Customer freelance market. Designers

    Recently, I often see posts on freelancers on Habré, the essence of which is "40 ways to send downloads * *", "Bend your fingers", etc. I would like to introduce the opposite side, the side of those who occasionally need to use the services of freelancers.

    This article opens a series of articles devoted to communication with freelancers of different directions.

    So, designers in today's market are represented by three groups.

    1) Undergraduates.
    These are people who have just started to design, but already consider themselves professionals. They will be ready to take on any project, for quite ridiculous money (or for food review). Despite the fact that this kind of cheapness can bribe, agree in no case should. Saving you get:

    * an increase in terms, both with different wordings (session, a cat died, went shopping, was busy), and without them.
    * Poor quality of work. As a rule, the work will be reduced to the following scheme:

    mega-sedimentary layout -> painful refinement -> tolerably sedimentary layout.

    Average price for a site layout: review -> $ 100

    2) Average.
    People who managed to screw up do more than one order. Usually they know how to work, there is no unhealthy pathos as in megadesigners and "childhood diseases" of beginners. Your style is already being formed. If kicking skillfully enough, they can make a good design. The insistent requirement to work on an advance payment of 50%.
    They are motivated not only by money, but also by the desire to put a good project in their portfolio.

    Average price for a site’s layout: $ 300 -> $ 1000

    3) “Mega-designers”. or those who consider themselves as such

    People who have already done a fairly large number of works, but at the same time have gained an unhealthy pathos. As a rule, communication with such designers does not carry anything positive. Motivated exclusively by money, and the amount may be called space ($ 5000 per layout). The customer is not put in anything, communication with him is a favor. From here come “childhood illnesses,” for example, disappearance without explanation, failure to meet deadlines.
    At the same time, you can get very mediocre work and assurances that it is so necessary.

    Average price for a site’s layout: $ 1,500 -> infinity.

    Problems that may arise with ANY freelance designer:

    1) “do not move your finger before prepayment”
    2) they can simply disappear without explanation
    3) with a good portfolio, make an honest drain
    4) refusal to provide source / source for extra. fee.
    5) work is not on the result, but the development of TK.

    Tips for working with a freelance designer:

    1) do not give an advance payment until you are 100% sure of the person (portfolio, meetings, discussion of ideas).
    2) always be ready for the "kid", minimize risks, require intermediate sources.
    3) to be prepared for a deadline, to make a reserve on time.
    4) to connect the designer to the compilation of TOR. see paragraph 1
    5) use the “risk-free transaction” and its analogues.
    6) final payment only after the Full approval of the work and receipt of all source codes.
    7) at the beginning of work, get all possible contacts (phones, skype, asya). If the project is large - preferably a copy of the passport.
    8) the conclusion of the contract does not give a guarantee from the "kidka", but obliges very carefully to work out TK (appendix).
    9) personal communication is very important. If possible, it is better to choose a freelancer who can drive up to the meeting.
