Shivering glass from Sony

June 20, Sony will begin selling in Japan its new original speaker system Sountina (NSA-PF1). The main element of the system is a transparent tube made of organic glass with a height of a little less than 2 meters, the vibration of the walls of which create a sound evenly distributed around it. Unusual “dynamics” available reproducible frequencies from 50 to 20 000 Hz. In addition to the tube, the system includes a subwoofer with a diameter of 13 cm, which at the same time serves as a stand for it and makes up a column with it, similar to a lightsaber from Star Wars.

Along the entire height of the column is a steel thread, which is illuminated by LEDs, which, if desired, change color from blue to magenta. This emphasizes the role of the system primarily as an interior object. Sony suggests that its customers will be large stores, hotels and other institutions that will use the system to voice announcements for visitors. The price of the new item, by the way, will be clearly “not home” $ 10,000.

In autumn, the company plans to start supplying Sountina to its customers in the Middle East, the USA, Brazil and Russia.
