Aptana + Ubuntu = ... (testing in hot pursuit)

As promised in the comment on Habré , experimented with Aptana Studio community edition.
As a result, a story with elements of a detective story and comedy.
Let me remind you that the question in the author’s article was that the Ubuntu + Aptana bundle works, um, not fast. Curiosity reigned: well, I’ll feel it myself. I will compare it with KomodoEdit . So, the configuration of the tentacles of a single machine : CPU: Celeron 2.53 GHz Ram: 512 Mb Dual mode HDD: Samsung 40 Gb IDE Video: on-board, Intel OS: Kubuntu 8.04 , KDE 3.x Soft: Aptana Studio 1.1

    Java 6 Standart edition (traditional apt-get install sun-java6 -...)
    Wine (separate mention, see below)
    Background music: audacious , ( Metallica - Shoot me again ) :)

    Proceed.
I downloaded the product Aptana Studio 1.1 Community edition from the official Aptana website . After a peppy download process, a peppy attempt to unpack the archive immediately followed. With the intention of launching the product, based on the assurances of “just double-click on AptanaStudio launcher”. Unpacked a 70-megabyte archive, as expected, in / home / dals / aptana

And with the help of Dolphin I moved to the indicated directory. Eyes immediately grabbed the inscription "AptanaStudio", and his hands inexorably stretched to make a "double-click." But it wasn’t there: after a click, for some reason, a window with the requirement of Firefox or Java RE popped up that wasn’t populated in forums and blogs. The Wine icon played dimly in the taskbar.
Bad thoughts began to prevail: why? And, as it turned out, not in vain: Kubuntu, for its own reasons, considered that AptanaStudio is an application from the Win32 world (!).
"However!" - I thought. I read a few more minutes of manuals and the Internet. :)
I decided to transfer / usr / local / aptana to the recommended location, even though I understood with my head that there would not be much difference.
The result is the same: dblClick -> Wine -> silent shutdown.
I had a malicious desire to act radically: remove the trash and return to KomodoEdit.
But, as usual, pride leaped up. I applied a makeshift but effective method: on the desktop I created a launch shortcut for AptanaStudio. Another attempt is another failure.

Curiosity, comrades, will not ruin the world - it will save it: I decided to look into the properties of the label. How angry he was for himself: there is a launch point with Wine. With inexpressible composure removed the malicious item. Oh miracle!
Finally, AptanaStudio has shown its splash-screen.
True, not for long: loading the program on my machine takes about 10-15 seconds.

And, in fact, I continue to tell about the monitoring of the speed of the Aptana + Ubuntu bundle.
It should be noted that the plugin for PHP was delivered (also from the official website of the program).
Through FTP, I opened with a dozen files of a web project on CodeIgniter, added to the project.
Attached some simple functions in the controller.
I did not find noticeable brakes and vises in the work: the system and the program reacted adequately, respectively, loading the latter. In general, I took note of myself that in addition to KomodoEdit, you can use AptanaStudio.

Short summary : the assumption about the inhibition of the Ubuntu + Aptana bundle has not been confirmed. On a scale, of course, a small project. But the question did not imply the number of open tabs with files, right? ..
    :)

Finally, I’ll say: if you are interested, I’ll make a quick guide with pictures on installation and
    brief setup of this product.

I ask fair criticism, this is my first post on Habrahabr.
    Thanks for attention.

UPD: thanks for the karma :) I will certainly fulfill my promise and publish a note with illustrations on installing Aptana on (K) Ubuntu.
UPD2: I read comments and I am a little surprised: well, what a machine I have for truthfulness , it’s almost not buggy.
