Is Roskomnadzor struggling with illegal trade in Sims?

On the website of Roskomnadzor, on the eve, a report appeared again on the fight of the department against the sale of illegal SIM cards. Indeed, by virtue of the total struggle against terrorism and the spread of mobile communications, this question arises much more acutely than in previous years.

In general, if we speak in a dry language of numbers, then Roskomnadzor, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, conducted 819 inspections over the past year. Most of all, the regulator and the police “strained” illegal immigrants in the Northern (189), Central (146) and Ural (115) federal districts. In the FEFD, the activity of the departments was not so high - only 45 checks.

In total, over 28 thousand were seized during the inspections! “Simok”. Representatives of the “Big Four” PJSC VimpelCom took over half of the seized cards; 18% - PJSC Megafon; 16% - MTS PJSC; 12% - LLC T2 Mobile. Naturally, for the most part, the proliferation of illegal “simok” is characteristic of megacities.

The head of Roskomnadzor, Alexander Zharov, commenting on the results of the inspections, reiterated that it was time to begin to regulate the turnover of SIM cards at the legislative level. Meanwhile, this story has been going on for more than one year, walking in the same circle. Checks, withdrawals of SIM cards, fines for sellers and so on and so forth. There are no results other than numbers in the report.

For example, in Yekaterinburg, to buy a SIM card without presenting a passport is easier than ever, despite the “cleansing” of Roskomnadzor. At the same places they trade for years, without being embarrassed by the police.

And why should a person who wants to make a couple of calls with all these troubles with passport data and registration numbers, when you can buy everything with your hands without any questions.

And even more so it is beneficial to a potential terrorist, fraudster or wanted criminal.

The whole fight against the sale of illegal telephone numbers, the police and Roskomnadzor is reduced only to preventive work with the population and periodic raids. This behavior is at least strange. Moreover, the state is so passionately trying to control and record who does what on the Internet, introducing authorization when entering the network in public places and obliging operators to write almost all traffic, completely forgets about using illegal numbers for anonymous access to the network.

So is Roskomnadzor really fighting illegal trade or is it just that there is no time because of the fight against porn sites?
