QEMU Advent Calendar - a simple way to get familiar with unusual operating systems.
For each image, a small shell script has been prepared that runs QEMU with optimal parameters. The project is still new (it is being carried out only for the second time. In 2014, 23 images were presented), but it is already overgrown with amusing traditions. For example, the general list of planned images is not disclosed, but one item is added every day.
Currently presented:
- MikeOS - 16-bit OS, written on asm for real mode x86 processors. It is completed with a text editor and interpreter BASIC. What else do you need for happiness?
- Syllable Desktop - OS as OS. What she does on this list, I did not understand. Grew up from some clone Amiga.
- FreeGEM - Gnome? Kde? Ugh. Look at FreeGEM, mentally correct the fonts and get what DE should be.
- ReactOS - GHM. I will keep silent. However, everyone already heard about this project ...
- Tower of Hanoi - Who doesn’t like Fort here? Everyone loves the Fort.
- MenuetOS - Recently, MenuetOS has grown fat to obscenity. One archive weighs almost MiB. PF-FF ...
- Sorry Ass - Hussars, silent!
- PM Invaders - Allows you to record aliens on NVDIMM. I am not lying!
- KolibriOS - honestly, I do not know what Hummingbirds are doing on this list. The system has grown completely and I see nothing surprising or funny in it. It just works.
- Epic Pinball Demo - just an old pinball.
- Genode OS Framework is a boring thing for security people. Sad even with beer.
- TetrOS - Tetris in MBR. Why make a garden with loaders, kernels and other stuff if Tetris fits in the MBR?
