Memory Usage in Firefox 3: John Resig Tests

In the comments on the post about memory consumption in Firefox 3, I (or rather the author of the charts ) were not blamed except for the fact that memory usage was drawn in paint. In this post, I suggest you listen to tests by John Resig of the jQuery developer , author of Pro Javascript Techniques , by the way, a Mac user. And most importantly, Opera and Safari browsers took part in testing this time.

I must say that I did not like :

    • The timeline is presented in the form of testing steps, not exact time periods
    • The current release of the Opera browser has not been tested
    • Safari 3 and IE8 could not pass the test (on this occasion I can not give a qualitative comment, whether it is caused by the software environment and platform, either by the testing method, or by the browsers themselves

We discussed the comparison methodology in a previous post on this topic: many browser windows open and close and memory consumption is measured, it is described in detail (and quantified in this post ).

Regarding the Safari 3 browser (as well as IE8) - unfortunately, he did not reach the end of the tests:

Explanation for conspiracy theory lovers: this time the graphics were drawn not in paint but in Photoshop - pay attention to the gradient!

For holivarschikov: these graphs were made primarily to compare memory consumption in the second and third versions of Firefox. Comments on objectivity, it is better to leave in English in the blog of the author of the charts.
