The official "holivar"

In various forums on the topic "Opera vs another browser" voiced a lot of arguments why the Norwegian browser is better than similar programs. Meanwhile, it would be interesting to know what the developers themselves think about this. And now there is such an opportunity: Ian Standal and Chris Mills gave an interview to the online publication “Digital Web”, in which they outlined the pros and cons of the most popular browsers, and also clearly demonstrated why Opera is cooler;)

    The main points are.

Safari - everyone is good, but you can criticize, perhaps, for lack of customization under the whims of the user.

Firefox is also a good browser, but the extension system praised by many is fraught with quite serious flaws in the form of weak security and irrational use of computer RAM.

Internet Explorer is just Internet Explorer. And that's it. Of course, one cannot again disagree that IE-7 is the best version of this browser that has ever existed, and if IE-8 really supports web standards, then there will be a song, but all this is still unknown in the future, how everything will turn out in the end.

As for Opera, the developers attribute three advantages to the pluses: firstly - small size, high speed and optimization of RAM usage; secondly - availability on almost any platform and any device; thirdly, full support for a greater number of web standards than other browsers.

The disadvantages of the Opera browser were attributed by its authors to the underdeveloped version for MacOSX, as well as the lack of tools for web developers to hone their work without leaving the browser. However, Ian and Chris said that by the middle of the year these omissions will be eliminated: the poppy Opera will catch up with other versions, and web developers will have at their disposal well-developed development and debugging tools. Summarizing all of the above and adding a noticeably “forced” engine in Opera-9.5, it becomes clear why Opera is the best choice today.
