Skype chose Metacafe service to display video in the program

On July 4, the second beta version of Skype 3.5 (release 3.5.0.158) saw the light , in which several new interesting features appeared, added to existing updates in the first beta version of Skype 3.5 .
The most interesting of them is called Video sharing - any Skype user will be able to send a video clip directly to the conversation window or add it to the mood indicator. Your friends above will be able to view the clip with one click and discuss the clip in the chat while watching.

Interestingly, Metacafe video service is used to implement this function.. It seems that Skype thus decided to support this not-so-well-known startup, created in the likeness of the famous YouTube. According to recent estimates by Hitwise, Metacafe’s market share in the video hosting market is just over one percent, compared to more than 60% owned by YouTube. But now with such powerful support in the face of Skype, Metacafe has a chance to get a huge number of new users and significantly increase its market influence.
If you want to use your own video, you will first have to upload it to the Metacafe server and only after that it will be possible to use it for display on Skype. And by default, the user will be offered a choice of video clips that are already on the Metacafe website.

Another new feature called Video snapshot. Now, during a video conference, you can at any time take a picture of the interlocutor and use it as an avatar.
There is a very convenient guide What's New Guide , which makes it easy to learn about the new features of the program and quickly learn them.
Added support for Firewire video cameras.
    Updated all language packs.
    Many bugs found.
