DirectX 10 for Windows XP

    Representatives of Microsoft have repeatedly stated that DirectX 10 is only for Windows Vista and is not compatible with other - previously released - versions of Windows. But, as it turned out, not everyone agrees with Uncle Bill's statements. The network has already appeared preview versions of a set of libraries that provide DirectX 10 compatibility with Windows XP. These libraries allowed you to run games that require DirectX 10 on platforms other than Microsoft Windows Vista. In addition, they increase hardware compatibility even in Windows Vista itself by compiling geometric shaders directly into machine codes where this cannot be done in hardware.

    Description:
    Direct3D 10 is distinguished by five key changes:
    1. Improved programming capabilities (Shader Model 4.0 and geometric shaders);
    2. Strict hardware specifications;
    3. improved performance (reduction in the number of processed commands per frame);
    4. Unified instruction sets (HLSL 10);
    5. streaming input / output (the geometric shader can write to memory).
