Three-dimensional Dashboard in Leopard
Apple turns to the patent office again. This time, the company is patenting a three-dimensional Dashboard. The figure shows a cube with a set of widgets on each of its faces. A cube (in fact, it can not only be a cube) can rotate, thus providing significantly more space for placing widgets in the Dashboard.

This concept goes well with the recently introduced Spaces multi-layer desktop model .
Actually the idea is not new. It has already been successfully used in the Beryl system . The “innovation” of Apple is just the arbitrary shape of a three-dimensional object.
