Best and Worst Internet Laws

Law professor Eric Goldman has compiled a list of the best and worst American laws on the Internet, with detailed comments on each of them. The professor emphasizes that in recent years, lawmakers have gone wild and began to regulate various aspects of Internet activity. For example, the past Congress has reviewed nearly 1,100 laws with the word “Internet.”

The list of "best Internet laws" is very small and includes only two items.

    1) The law on tax freedom on the Internet , which exempts online stores from paying sales tax.

    2) Act 47 of USC 230, which relieves the owners of Internet sites from any responsibility for the content posted on the site by users. This law is an excellent example of double standards in relation to online and offline, because offline publishers are fully responsible for the content of their publications.
