Wikipedia founder wants to check user credentials

Jimmy Wales. (c) Agence France-PresseJimmy Wales, although he did not see “crime” in the story of a 24-year-old young man posing as a professor, nevertheless decided to address the issue of “clean staff” on Wikipedia. The New York Times writes that the founder of the online encyclopedia plans to introduce a test of all participants who claim to be the holder of an academic title.

The details of how the verification will be carried out are not yet clear. Apparently, Jimmy himself does not clearly imagine how it can be carried out (although he promises to provide details in a week). Among the possible ways, it is proposed, for example, to fax copies of your diplomas to the office of the Wikimedia Foundation by fax or enlist the support of other reputable users.

Of course, such an idea was criticized, because, as you know, Wikipedia is "an encyclopedia that everyone can edit." Even Wales' “heiress”, head of the Wikimedia Foundation, Florence Devouard, says he does not support a possible innovation.
