StoryTron: universal engine for alternative universes

Truly cyberpunk program created by a group of developers led by legendary game designer Chris Crawford (Chris Crawford). The StoryTron system is the first of its kind, so at first it’s even hard to understand what it is for.

According to Chris Crawford, this is a platform for creating interactive fairy tales. Actually, the definition of the new term interactive storytelling was first formulated by Chris Crawford himself more than ten years ago. According to his wording, interactive tales are a form of interactive entertainment in which a player plays the role of a protagonist in a dramatically saturated environment.

Interactive tales differ from ordinary fairy tales (games) in nonlinearity, that is, the unpredictability of the plot. Once upon a time, game design guru Chris Crawford dreamed of creating a platform where anyone could place their character and, accordingly, launch their own interactive tale with an unpredictable ending. Chris began work on this system back in 1992 (originally called Erasmatron), but only in 2006 did the first results appear.

StoryTron's platform for creating interactive fairy tales allows anyone to create their own fairy tale world. The Storyworld Authoring Tool is designed for this.. After creating a fabulous world, it can be launched on the StoryTron platform. To create and manage an alternative universe, a special scripting programming language Deikto is intended , the development of which continues to this day. Theoretically, this language should describe all aspects of human relationships.

Experts believe that behind this concept, perhaps, is the future of computer games .
