Picasa Web Albums Update

Today, the largest update to Picasa Web Albums has taken place since its launch. The update includes tools that users really missed, as well as some other less noticeable features designed to make our life easier.

Firstly, the free version of Picasa Web provides us with 1GB of disk space (before that it was 250MB), enough to store 4 thousand photos with a width of 1600 pixels.

Like Flickr , we can search for public photos posted by other users. Until today, the search has been extended only to your own photos and to open photos uploaded by users from the contact list.

It became known that the new Bloggerwill use Picasa Web Albums to store photos. We will automatically see new photos uploaded to our Blogger blogs in the My Photos folder and search for them (however, at the moment, as I noticed, existing photos in blogs continue to be stored on Blogger servers). The names of albums containing photos uploaded to Blogger will match the names of the corresponding blog posts.

It has also become easier to embed a photo gallery or an entire album from Picasa Web Albums on your website - just copy the generated HTML code and place it on your page. Four sizes of published photos are supported.
