Texas and Minnesota officially switch to ODF format

Texas and Minnesota may become the second and third (after Massachusetts) US states where the ODF (Open Document Format for XML) format will be accepted as official.

Two bills are already regulating the abandonment of Microsoft Office and the transition to "compatibility between various internal and external platforms and applications," InfoWorld writes . On July 1, 2008, Minnesota will switch to the open format of documents, and Texas will pull up later on September 1 of that year.

Microsoft, which was clearly denied earnings, said it supported such a choice, although it did not approve of using only one document format.
