In China, 10 thousand domains were missing

On the Chinese Internet, about ten thousand domains were lost by their owners. Presumably, this is due to the recent earthquake in Taiwan, due to which several submarine communication cables malfunctioned. Unable to access the Internet, domain name owners could not re-register them in time. This was reported by techlabs.by with reference to the statement of the Chinese center International Network Information.

Owners of DNS servers, despite force majeure circumstances, are not responsible for this loss. However, they decided to develop a scheme whereby owners of lost domains will receive some compensation.

At the same time, according to the information center, representatives of the country's largest domain registrar HiChina Web Solutions Ltd. note that the loss of domains due to an earthquake is possible in theory rather than in practice. If the domain has expired, then the rights to the former owner remain for one or two months.
