Whatsapp tests video calls
Messenger WhatsApp continues to evolve, the developers add all the new features. Not so long ago, it was announced about the transition to full encryption of all user messages, including audio, video, pictures. Now the company has decided to add a video call function.
True, the novelty is not available for everyone. Only the users of the penultimate beta (v2.16.80), which was available on the Google Play Store, can try out WhatsApp Video Call .
The program has two options - audio call (not a new feature) and video call (the button is inactive in most cases). But for a number of users, this function is active - apparently, Video Call testing is conducted on a limited scale.
The company did the same with voice calls: initially the function was tested on a limited scale, access to it was from a small number of users. And only when the developers were convinced that everything works as it should, was the novelty officially announced and made available to all. On Geektimes, a guide was published in due time on how to hack an instant messenger in order to gain access to voice calls.
It is interesting that after it became known about the new function, the company rolled out an update v2.16.81, where there are no video calls anymore.
