The percentage of creationists in Iceland among young people up to 25 years old dropped to 0.0%

Little Iceland stands out against the background of other states, not only for its geographical location and the phenomenal popularity of the Pirate Party . There are some other features that make you wonder: what is wrong with these Icelanders?

For example, a recent survey of residents showed that Iceland is becoming an exclusively secular non-religious state.

According to the results of the survey, less than half of the respondents admitted to being religious, and among young people, more than 40% of people directly stated that they were atheists. For comparison, among people older than 55, atheists are only 11.8%.

Youth answers to the question of the creation of the world are especially obvious. The version of the creation of the world as a result of the Big Bang was supported by 93.9% of Icelanders under 25 years of age. Do not have a clear opinion or do not consider true any of the proposed options 6.1%. And in the creation of the world by God believe 0.0%.

    0.0%

A survey commissioned by the Ethical Association of Humanists of Iceland showed that the religion of the nation has dropped to the lowest level in history. And this is at a time when in other countries creationism is taught in schools andsanctify rockets before launch !

In fairness it should be noted that formally the theory of the Big Bang does not contradict the existence of God. In the end, this theory was formulated by a Catholic priest, an eminent astronomer and mathematician Georges Lemaitre (and, independently of him, the Russian physicist Alexander Friedman ).

A survey in Iceland also showed that the overwhelming majority of citizens (72%) are in favor of the complete separation of church and state.
