Anton Nosik is accused of extremism under Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation

    A well-known journalist, public figure and blogger Anton Nosik has today been formally charged with extremism under Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code - public actions aimed at inciting hatred or enmity, as well as degrading the dignity of a person or a group of people on grounds of gender, race, nationality, language, origin, attitude to religion, as well as belonging to any social group.

    The reason for the prosecution was the record " Wipe Syria off the face of the earth ", published in the LiveJournal on October 1, 2015, the day after the start of the Russian military operation in Syria ( copy ).



    Lawyer Sergei Badamshin said that according to the results of the third linguistic examination conducted by the Volgograd laboratory, Nosik’s text revealed “linguistic signs of incitement of hostility towards the Syrians, singled out on a national-territorial basis”.

    In particular, experts noted, the phrase “***** [bombs], Vladimir Vladimirovich, carpeted” was described as “linguistic signs of the prompting of Vladimir Vladimirovich’s addressee to negative actions (to bomb Syria)”.

    The third study was scheduled because the findings of the two previous studies contradicted each other. The lawyer stressed that his client did not show extremism at all, but, on the contrary, "provided full support to the Air and Space Forces of Russia in connection with their actions in Syria, being a patriot of Russia and Israel."

    Anoton Nosik elected a preventive measure in the form of a recognizance not to leave .



    Anton Nosik faces up to four years in prison. The minimum penalty is a fine of 100 thousand rubles.
