The results of the presentation of Bethesda at E3

Quake Champions, Fallout 4 on HTC Vive, card game in the TES universe and more

Tonight, as part of E3, a presentation of the Bethesda game studio took place, at which a number of new products were presented.

Bethesda, in conjunction with Id Software, has been systematically shaking the gaming market over the past few years since The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, released in late 2011, was released. One of the last "massive nuclear strikes" on the positions of competitors can be called the release of the fourth part of the legendary Fallout, and quite recently the guys restarted DOOM and, with more, returned the series to a bloody background.

    Yes, Quake is back

“Yes, Quake is back ,” said the studio head, Tim Willits, during the presentation. It would seem that what else can they present to the world? But Bethesda does not intend to stop: yesterday they announced a new part of the Quake series, another of their legendary title. The game is still called Quake Champions.

    Quake Champions game trailer

For those who, in anticipation of PVP, jumps and rocket jumps, began to rub their hands, there is bad news: judging by the teaser, the new Quake is not a restart of Quake III Arena. This is a fundamentally new part of the series, which was influenced by games such as Team Fortress from Valve and Overwatch from Blizzard.

The trailer clearly shows the presence of an RPG element so popular in recent years, that is, separation into characters with their own unique abilities and, possibly, weapons. On the one hand, it simplifies the network gameplay for the mass consumer, who can choose his character “to his liking”, and on the other hand, complicates the competitive e-sports part. Will he also be dynamic and merciless to beginners like Q3A? Hardly. Therefore, we most likely will not see the new Cooler and 1v1 championships - Quake Champions will follow in the footsteps of a team-role-playing shooter and since its release will be in direct competition to the ambitious Overwatch from the “blizzard”. New Quake will be released exclusively for the PC.

    The Elder Scrolls series

But the presentation was not only about updates, there is news for the dragonborn. The studio has not forgotten about its other legendary title TES V: Skyrim and announced a reissue of the game for the Xbox One and PS4.

The main changes will occur in the graphics: Bethesda rework shadows, textures of the environment and water, which in general will change the look of the game and lead it to a more modern look.

Also, according to the developers, remastered-version for consoles will support custom mods , so all the fun and content gained by the community since the release of the original version will be available for fans to play lying on the couch.

TES Online was also mentioned at the presentation. The developers will remove from the players restrictions on the movement between locations, thereby making the game world completely open absolutely for all players who have passed the initial training. According to the studio, the TES Online audience is 7 million players, but the developers do not specify whether this figure is monthly online or just the number of accounts.

But the news of the TES world does not end there. The new Quake is already possible, with caution, to position itself as a competitor to the Team Fortress Overwatch, but Blizzard also has its own hit - MTG Hearthstone , one of the first digital CCRs, which has become very popular. Bethesda decided to fight in this field. The studio announced a beta of its own electronic CCI on the TES universe called The Elder Scrolls: Legends.

    Teaser TES: Legends

The developers did not deviate from the fashion set by Blizzard, and in general, at first glance, TES: Legends differs from HS only in the setting:

However, the game is only in beta stage and what content Bethesda game designers will be able to prepare for us - an open question.

    Fallout 4 and Fallout Shelter

Not deprived of attention and Fallout Shelter. The developers are porting this game from mobile platforms to PC, apparently for the sake of increasing the audience. For the main game of the series, Fallout 4, new DLCs were introduced, which can be accessed by purchasing the Season Pass.

But this is not the main news related to the game.

Bethesda has promised to release the version of Fallout 4 for the virtual reality glasses HTC Vive by 2017 . Unfortunately, the adaptation of the recently released DOOM to the VR technology was not mentioned.

    A bit about DOOM

Instead, the developers announced a weekly free demo period for their new game: yes, the first level of the new DOOM can be completed for free in the next 7 days. This approach is so alien to 2016 that some media expressed sincere bewilderment in connection with this decision. Plus, on Steam there is a mechanism for returning games (assuming that you have played less than 2 hours), so at first glance this “handout” looks even more dull.

However, Bethesda is not fools: very few people want to “freeze” about $ 60, keep track of the time, and then also write to the support. The developers themselves make it possible to absolutely legally and free to try the game (about half an hour of gameplay) without any obligations from the user in the future. Prey and Dishonored 2

In addition to updates, additions, the new Quake and card game, Bethesda announced the release of two more projects - restarting Prey and Dishonored 2.

New Prey Trailer The new Prey

is not a continuation of the 2006 game, but a restart of the series. Prey 2 was announced back in 2011, however, it was simpler than the original game and was a banal corridor shooter. In 2014, the studio officially announced the cancellation of the project, but, apparently, did not put a cross on it, but simply “put it on the table”. The action of the new Prey will unfold on the space station, attacked by aliens.

And the last announcement is Dishonored 2.

Unlike other titles presented by Bethesda at the exhibition, Dishonored 2 arrived at E3 with a trailer showing us the elements of gameplay. Studio developer promises players a more complex and twisted plot, more stealth than in the previous part, as well as changes in the gameplay itself.

    Total

Bethesda brought many new products to this E3, which affect almost all categories of their fans, and some are aimed at attracting a new audience (for example, Fallout 4 for the VR helmet and the demo version of DOOM). But it was only the first day of E3 and, perhaps, other studios prepared a worthy response to this presentation.
