Svetum - a self-contained lamp with a motion sensor

I’m used to the fact that there is always light, without any restrictions and exceptions. But, as usual, exceptions appear and often become rules. The light in the passage to the pantry of the house is designed in such a way that you first have to go a few meters in pitch darkness, try to find the switch, repeat this several times, finally turn on the light and only then make sure that the switch is not at all where you originally tried to find.

The idea of breaking a wall, removing wires and making a normal one - the right switch arose every time you visited the pantry, and it was also put off every time until better times. Still, the pantry is not what you use every day.

The solution to my problem appeared completely by accident and was not at all as complicated as wall chipping and wiring. The solution was a small light bulb with the interesting name Svetum. (One would like to put Light - Mind in the name of the dash)

The device is a small, round box with a set of LEDs and a motion sensor in front. And a compartment for four batteries at the back. In the kit there is an instruction (although, for a device with one switch, this is an obvious excess), a kit for mounting on a wall and the device itself.

A distinctive feature of Svetum is the presence of a light sensor and a motion sensor. The sensors consume so little energy (30-40 MicroAmps) that, according to my calculations, the batteries will definitely last for a year of infrequent starts.

Svetum has only one switch with intuitive functionality: it is always on, automatically turns on in the dark when motion is detected, and is completely turned off. I recommend immediately setting the auto mode and forget about the switch.

The declared range of the light sensor is 5 meters. According to my measurements, it can be a little smaller if you approach the sensor from the side. And vice versa, when approaching directly to the sensor, a range of about 7-10 meters. It was not possible to precisely determine the range - it strongly depends on the intensity of movement. If you quickly walk along the corridor, then the range is maximum.

Duration of burning of light at automatic inclusion of 15 seconds. According to personal feelings - this is quite enough to pass a small section of a dark (already light) corridor.

A few words about brightness. When I turned on Svetum at home, during the day, on the table, it seemed to me that the brightness is not enough. But for a dark place it is more than enough. I mounted Svetum on the wall, about 15 centimeters above the floor. (Just a little above the water mark from the last flood in the basement). When turned on, Svetum brightly illuminates the corridor at a distance of 3 meters, which is enough to reach the main switch.

When he explained to a friend what kind of "thing" is hanging on the wall, he asked - "but if the light is really turned off, it does not illuminate much." Checked.

To find the way and highlight the dark corridor Svetumu is quite capable. But for full emergency lighting, one lamp will not be enough.

A few words about other applications.
I think that this lighting is ideal for the lower shelves in the kitchen, cabinets with clothes, etc. I tried to place Svetum in the kitchen under the cabinet with a sink. This is a place where sometimes the backlight does not even hurt. But he decided for himself that the storage room lighting is still more important.

    Insides
After experimenting with lighting, the idea arose to see what was inside. And inside was a board with LEDs, covered with a separate lid:

On the reverse side, neat installation. A trifle, but the fact that there are no empty spaces on the board and all the details are sealed in their places is another plus for the device.

For those who are curious, the microcircuit is called - LX6-8L.
