Huawei and Nutanix Announce HCI Partnership

Great news appeared at the end of last week: our two partners (Huawei and
Nutanix) announced a partnership in the field of HCI. Huawei server hardware has now been added to the Nutanix hardware compatibility list.

Huawei-Nutanix HCI is based on the FusionServer 2288H V5 (it is a 2U dual-processor server).

The jointly developed solution is designed to create flexible cloud platforms that can handle corporate virtualization tasks, including basic services, private and hybrid clouds, working with big data and ROBO. In the near future we plan to get testing equipment from the vendor. Details under the cut.

Today, hyperconverged systems are gaining in popularity around the world. They are built from unified blocks, which include both computing resources and data storage resources.

    Hyperconvergence benefits include:

    1. Easy and quick infrastructure launch.
    2. Easy and transparent horizontal scaling by simply increasing the number of universal blocks.
    3. Exception of a single point of failure.
    4. Unified Management Console.
    5. Reduced maintenance requirements.
    6. Independence from the hardware platform. New features can be provided to the user without reference to the equipment that he uses (there is no dependence on specific ASIC / FPGA).
    7. Save space in racks.
    8. Increase IT staff productivity.
    9. Increased operational efficiency.

HCI allows you to transfer the popular cloud-based consumption model (the economic principle of payment as it grows / on-demand) to your local on premise infrastructure without compromising information security.

Today, system administrators in companies are becoming smaller, and their areas of responsibility are expanding. One of the biggest tasks of a system administrator is maintaining the current infrastructure. The use of HCI saves IT staff time and allows you to focus on other activities that bring additional benefits to the company (for example, developing and improving the availability of infrastructure, rather than maintaining it in the current state).

Returning to the partnership news: as usual, we will conduct basic tests on data security and fault tolerance of the solution as a whole, in order to offer customers only proven solutions.

Synthetic tests are not the best tool for testing the performance of HCI solutions, because depending on the synthetic load profile, we can get very good or unsatisfactory results. If you're interested, offer us your workloads and benchmarks to test your performance. In the following posts we will share the results.
