Get down on mortal earth ...
Recently, I was lucky to communicate with colleagues at various IT events. The topic was the application of a service approach in business. The speakers touched on, among others, the topic of digital transformation, machine learning and artificial intelligence. It was interesting to watch the reaction of the audience and listen to discussions on the sidelines.
Sometimes it was reminiscent of plots from the movie "The 5th Element." Remember when a dense stream of flying cars briskly moved at different heights? It’s cool, of course, when cars fly in organized and trouble-free fashion at tremendous speeds. The question is when will it really be? Also, colleagues - listened about the digital transformation with the question: "What are you talking about?"
A quatrain was spontaneously born:
Get down on the mortal earth, Face the
truth.
What is ... digitalization
When the brakes around are
Rough? But truthfully and intelligibly. “Brakes” in this case is a broad concept. It applies to processes and projects, and, unfortunately, sometimes to people.
I am not against moving forward. I with two hands FOR. That is not the question.
It seems that when mastering the technologies of the future, we forget about the current day. We offer the transition of IT and business to digital cooperation, where the process of managing incidents and appeals has not yet been optimized. Or optimized only in IT processes. Business is not immediately ready for big changes. IT departments are also not immediately ready for big changes. Yes, it will not work. This is recognized by the software solution providers themselves. I am not considering companies that are ready “for 100 rubles and 3 days” to solve your questions.
The problem is that in the pursuit of this very digitalization, large players forget or economically justify ignoring popular wisdom: "A chicken pecks a grain, but it can be full in the evening." Solution providers are eager to immediately gobble up a whole sunflower. And then the whole field is mowed. This is on the one hand. On the other hand, a large number of companies are not ready to pay for the “whole sunflower”. At the same time, they urgently need to optimize business processes. What should they do?
I already wrote earlier that not everything can always be done on their own. We need solution providers who are ready to work “by the grain”. I do not presume to discuss the economic component of this issue. But the fact that this niche is not covered, I affirm with full confidence.
A typical situation is not a very large company, everything seems to work, but not optimally. There is a routine that slows down many processes. And this is not the level of an ERP system or serious applications. This is exactly LEAKAGE! She steals working hours. So - steals money. Money business. He doesn't like it. Business understands that without automation it’s nowhere and expects IT proposals on optimizing routine.
IT understands that the suggestions “let's use ITIL and life will get better” are no longer enough. What to do?
You are IT specialists! Use the available tools to quickly and conveniently automate the routine. Moreover, such tools today are available not only to the Enterprise segment, but to the SMB sector.
And “no songs” about the fact that you have no resources! Remember Mikhalkov’s poem, how your aunt looked for glasses: “But the glasses actually were on her forehead.” So you have - there are resources, the main thing is to correctly identify and use them .
And then a matter of technology. Together with business, we delve into the most painful routine.
Optimization goals are almost everywhere similar:
We determine that the process is subject to automation. We make mini TK.
Based on a typical request “Incident” or “Service Request”, we configure the process in the system. In a good system, this is done quickly enough. And go ahead - test with process participants! We eliminate the roughness, we get the approval of the customer and productive. Do not forget to describe the process, prepare instructions and regulations. As a rule, the implementation does not exceed a month. Simple processes are automated within 1-2 weeks.
So much for the digital transformation. A few days after such transformations, the business receives positive feedback. Goals achieved. Money saved. IT people received thanks.
Colleagues, these are realities, this is our “digital transformation” with you. We are not against her. But while most of us are not up to flying cars. Still on the ground there is enough work.
And software solution providers and large vendors want to say that while working on the future, they will not forget about the present. Not everywhere are "fields with sunflowers." There are still very, very many "seeds" that are also waiting for you.
PS
I'm sad when IT scold.
I am sad when the phrase “these IT people again” sounds angry.
I feel sad when IT is not believed.
I like it when the result of our work brings you happiness.
I like it when the customer says: “Thank you, it has become much more convenient to work!”
I like to really help the business.
And I believe in us. In IT specialists. To paraphrase Mayakovsky:
I know there will be happiness
I know the IT bloom
When such people are
in the IT country! ”
