The secret combat robot MAI

There are only 5 days left before the ARMORBOOT 2016 competition ! On February 21-23, grandiose robot battles will begin at the Olympic. How can one not look at the MAI workshop? Here, the FAUST team , consisting of graduate student Stepan Ignatiev and the leader of NICH-7, Vitaly Polyansky, is preparing his robot to battle.

The first thing that attracts attention is the half of the MIG-23 combat fighter disassembled into parts right in the middle of the workshop. From the cockpit themselves, they want to assemble an aircraft simulator. And from its aviation parts almost all the elements of the robot are assembled and these are good details, because as I explained to the MAI it deals only with combat aircraft and their department is precisely the destruction of aircraft from different types of weapons.

That is why the FAUST decided not to disclose many parameters and not demonstrate the case of their robot: the

Concept partially migrated from the previous robot, there were also percussion weapons, but we refused secondary weapons in order not to waste energy on the system. We also changed the drive of the weapon from spring to pneumatic in order to increase the force of blows. Pneumatics is stronger than everyone expects, we removed it from the AKU-170 - such special mounts for air bombs.

The ax will also be heavy and very sharp. With his help, we can roll over if we suddenly find ourselves on our backs. The shock mechanism is assembled from pneumatics, the ax itself is mounted with the handle of the MIG-23 steering wheel mount. In the diagram it is purple, in the photo here it is in the center:

The robot moves thanks to two driving wheels, it turns with a draw bar. Weight is about 100 kg. The weapon is an ax on a pneumatic drive. Armor - 2mm stainless steel. If the engine is normal, then we will manage with a car battery as a battery, and if aviation, then they all work at 27V and you have to come up with something.

The FAUST team is no longer new to the bot armor - their previous DRAK robot participated in the November battles. And indeed the MAI team has been well known in the world of robotics for several years. It is significant that before entering the university there is their black Volga with an autopilot capable of driving and parking no worse than Tesla. The car was made for the Robocross 2012 competition. To complete the assignment, V. V. Polyansky decided to provide his GAZ 31 car. By the way, at the competition the car became a favorite of the public and received an audience prize .

This car is inexorably reminiscent of something and its successor - DRAK MK2. Previous robot team.

The stake was made on defense - a thin aluminum case hid two centimeters of dense rubber underneath. This combination was supposed to reliably disable enemy saws and guns. grades are lifting, so it’s hard to hook it from below.

From the weapon its turner and light impact hammer. It’s even a pity that the career of the fight did not work out - his fuses were on, and in the final battle the contacts were closed and the robot died heroically under the pressure of the enemy in the final battle.

We wish our Mayevites a fair wind and a worthy performance in a fair fight in the Olympic arena on February 21-23 . The guys have five more days to finish everything and show the class.
