DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce: small, but remote

Greetings, dear readers! Today we will talk about compact smartphones, by the word “compact” I mean a device with a 4-inch screen. Surely at this point, many began to grimace squeamishly, imagining budget devices with budget characteristics. This opinion about 4-inch smartphones is imposed by manufacturers who use the cheapest components in devices of this form factor. And this applies not only to the screen and the hardware of the gadget, but also to its body materials, and the build quality as a whole. This is all done with one goal - to minimize the cost of the final product.

The DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce models stand apart, although they are equipped with 4-inch screens, nothing more connects them with budget employees. For example, the first device has become the world's smallest Android background with support for LTE and Android 5.1 Lollipop, and the second is the most compact smartphone with an eight-core processor.

    Packaging and equipment

DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce are delivered in black and blue boxes made of thick cardboard.

The delivery set of both models can be called ascetic. So, in every box, in addition to the smartphone itself, there is a network charger unit, a USB-microUSB cable, a warranty card and a user manual.

    Appearance and controls

If you do not take into account the location of some elements (for example, the rear camera, ports and hardware keys), then the DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce look exactly the same.

Both models are available to customers in four colors: black (“under the stone”, like OnePlus One), yellow, white or blue. The smartphone case is made of very high-quality plastic with a soft-touch coating. He reluctantly collects prints, traces remain only if your hands are wet. In general, I liked the material - nice to the touch and looks good.

For the convenience of grip, the corners of the smartphones are rounded, and the side faces are sloping. The devices actually lie well in the hand. Also, from the design moments, I note the presence of a frame around the screen and a transverse strip of the same material in the lower half of the backdrop. Unfortunately, I don’t know the whole color spectrum, I can only say that the black version has a golden frame and strip, while the white one has silver.

The DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce cases do not lag behind the more expensive models from eminent brands in the quality of fitting parts. Everything is clear, without large gaps, backlashes, creaks and other attributes of poor-quality assembly.
In addition to the screen on the front side of the DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce there is a conversational speaker, covered with a silver mesh. Next to it is a front camera for video calls and light / proximity sensors.

Under the screen there is an area with touch-sensitive Android control keys. In both smartphones, the buttons are made in the style of Android Lollipop.

At the top of the back of the DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce are cameras and single-section LED flashes. True, the location of these elements is different. So in the first apparatus they are shifted to the left edge, and in the second they are located in the center.

In the lower part of the back side of smartphones, we see the already mentioned strip "under the metal", and under it - a grid of multimedia speaker. Since I mentioned it, I’ll say that the speakers have good speakers: there are no extraneous noises at maximum volume, the sound is clear, and the level of this maximum volume is sufficient to not miss a call or, say, listen to your favorite song.

A standard headphone jack for connecting headphones or a wired headset is 3.5 mm, in both cases it is located on the upper end. Here, the DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce also has a microUSB charging port. But in the DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash it is placed on the lower end. Whereas the first model has only a microphone hole at the bottom.

The power and screen activation keys for the DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce are on the right side. Separate buttons for adjusting the volume level of the second model are also included here. At the first they are on the left side.

Let's look under the battery cover. It is removed quite simply, it is enough just to pry a fingernail in the right place. I note that the DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash cover is completely removed, while the DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce remains the lower part, the one under the "metal" strip.

Both models have the same set under the cover: one slot for a microSD memory card, two slots for SIM cards and one battery for 3,000 mAh.

    Display

The screens in the DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce are completely the same. So, in both cases, high-quality IPS matrices are used. In proof of this - rich colors, good brightness and the widest viewing angles, reaching 178 degrees. In general, it feels pretty good, in 4-inch state employees such displays are definitely not found. With regard to specific numbers, then with a diagonal of 4 inches, the resolution is 800 x 480 pixels. Yes, by today's standards, such a resolution may seem small, but do not forget about the ultra-compact diagonal. Individual pixels are not striking, the picture looks clear, even with a fairly close study.

Add, screens in DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce capacitive touch with support for "multi-touch." They are able to handle up to 5 simultaneous touches, which is more than enough to perform any task. Honestly, no matter what, but I don’t know the case when a 5-point wheel is not enough. Support for 10 touches of the top models is more a demonstration of capabilities, rather than a necessity.

The DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash has two additional chips. The first is MediaTek's MiraVision technology, it is responsible for improving image quality (however, it is not possible to evaluate its performance). The second is the ability to turn on the screen in double tap.

    Operating system and software

The operating system is another difference between the DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and the DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce. No, no, I'm not saying that one device works on Android, but the second on Window Phone, I'm talking about the OS version. So, the first model comes preloaded with the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. Again, the 4-inch models with the “fifth robot” do not come to mind.

As for the DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce, then an older version is used here - Android 4.4 KitKat. Most likely this was done due to the unstable version of Android 5 for the chipset used in this model, but I will talk about it a little later.

In both cases, third-party shells are not used, Android can be called "naked". Only purely cosmetic changes like color icons in the settings of the DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce caught my eye.

Otherwise, everything is absolutely standard. DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce do not have many pre-installed applications.

    Iron and performance

Models DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce are built on different hardware platforms, which are related only by the manufacturer - the Taiwanese company MediaTek. So, the first smartphone uses the MT6735A chipset, which includes a quad-core 1.3-GHz processor and the Mali-720MP2 graphics accelerator. There is also 1 GB of RAM. The smartphone is pretty smart, I have no complaints about the speed of work. The device can easily cope even with modern three-dimensional games. And in synthetic tests the gadget shows good results:

Model DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce boasts a more productive "stuffing." The smartphone is based on the MediaTek MT6592M with an octa-core 1.4-GHz processor and Mali-450MP4 graphics. Let me remind you, this is the smallest eight-core Android smartphone in the world. The amount of RAM in the device is exactly the same as that of its "brother" - 1 GB. It is clear that the speed of the DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce is high. Even in heavy 3D titles at the maximum graphics settings, the gadget wasn’t dumb, I didn’t notice FPS drawdowns. I also attach the results of the DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce in benchmarks:

From my personal feelings, I can say the following: in practice, I did not notice the difference in performance between the DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce. Both devices are smart. Unless in some 3D games, a quad-core smartphone loaded for a couple of seconds longer. Although, playing on the models under consideration is a difficult question, not everyone will be comfortable playing on 4-inch screens.

Here I will add that the built-in memory in the DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce is 8 GB (plus a microSD memory card). For comparison, budget 4-inch models are equipped with only 4 GB.

    Communication

In this section I will begin with the fact that both devices belong to the class of “dual-SIM cards”. And in this parameter, they are not much different from most similar smartphones. In other words, DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce have one radio module, which makes both cards active in standby mode, and turn off one SIM card when a second call is made. In general, everything is familiar and standard.

The DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash model also supports work in the fourth generation networks, i.e. LTE. DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce cannot boast of such. Moreover, the first device has a dual-system satellite navigation module - GPS / GLONASS, while the second - only GPS.

The rest of the DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce all the same - Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. All wireless modules work as they should, I did not find any glitches or shortcomings.

I also add that the quality of speech reception / transmission for both models is good, one might even say - at the level of top models from world manufacturers. However, today you rarely see a modern smartphone with a poor speaker or microphone.

    Camera

With DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce cameras, things are doing pretty well too. As a rule, 4-inch smartphones are equipped with modules of the main camera at 5 megapixels and without the auto focus function. It also uses 8-megapixel cameras from Sony (XL140) and Samsung (XL240). Plus, the presence of autofocus, which also positively affects the final quality of the photos.

In general, I will evaluate the DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce cameras as good, but judge the quality yourself by the examples below (the pictures from the first, they shoot almost the same way):

Front cameras also did not disappoint - they have a resolution of 2 megapixels in both models (versus the 0.3-megapixel in the vast majority of 4-inch Android-backgrounds). Of course, the main purpose of these cameras is video calls, and they can easily cope with this task. If we talk about "self-arrows", then under certain conditions, you can get a pretty good quality picture. It is clear that I mean a good level of lighting.

    Offline work

As I already said, DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce are equipped with 3,000 mAh batteries. Looking at all the same 4-inch state employees, I’ll say that they rarely have a battery larger than 1,700 mAh. I think the numbers speak for themselves. So, in the average use mode (half the screen brightness, Wi-Fi turned on, several calls, moderate Internet surfing, a couple of photos), the DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce will have to be charged about once every 2.5-3 days. As for me, it’s not bad.

    Conclusion

Smartphones DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce can be called revolutionaries, they are "struggling with the system", which adhere to manufacturers, having driven 4-inch devices in the framework of state employees. The heroes of the material clearly showed that a compact smartphone is not necessarily equally budget (with weak and outdated characteristics). On the contrary, the DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash model became the smallest device with LTE support and the presence of Android 5.1 Lollipop, and the DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce the smallest Android background with an eight-core processor. At the same time, for the remaining characteristics of the gadgets, you also do not have to blush.

The devices performed well on the test and are clearly worth the money. Oh yes, DEXP Ixion XL140 Flash and DEXP Ixion XL240 Triforce are estimated at 6,490 rubles.
