Chromebit turns any monitor or TV into a full-fledged computer for $ 85

Asus and Google have finally launched the sale of Chromebit, a miniature PC based on Chrome OS for only $ 85. The gadget can be connected to any HDMI port. After that, it remains only to take the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, turn on the power button on the screen, and we get a ready-made computer that can not pull heavy games, but can be used as an office PC.

The Chromebit stick is a bit of a miniature and simplified Chromebook. To work here, a browser and web applications are used that allow you to perform most daily tasks, including checking mail, working with IM messengers, surfing, and editing documents. Since the computer is very small, there is no touchpad, no screen, and no battery, so the developers were able to radically reduce the price of their device.

If you need an inexpensive PC or smart TV ( a person’s dream of 1996 ), then this stick fits perfectly. It can also be used as the main element for creating a room for holding press conferences. Any hotel room with a more or less normal TV can be turned into just such a room. Well, Chrome OS might be a better option for a class, for example, than Windows XP.

If you still want to buy this thing, you need to remember that there will be no miracles of performance. As a processor, an inexpensive chip from Rockchip is installed. Plus, there are only 2 GB of not the fastest RAM. And of course, a monitor or TV should have an HDMI port for connecting a stick - otherwise, it won’t work. You can, of course, try the adapter, but not the fact that everything will work 100%.

Google calls Chromebit an excellent solution for digital kiosks - almost no maintenance is required, the price of a stick is minimal for such purposes. In general, Chromebit can perform about 90% of the functions of an "adult" PC. True, there are not too many applications here, but what is there is enough to work.
