Porsche and Audi electric cars will compete with Tesla

Tesla will face competition from major automakers in the future. They gradually realize that the future is in electric cars, and begin to show their conceptual designs.

Two electric concept cars from Porsche and Audi were presented at the Volkswagen Group press conference yesterday. The Porsche Mission E sports sedan looks like a competitor to the Tesla Model S, and the E-Tron Quattro Concept is more like a Tesla Model X.

So far, there is no threat to the Tesla market, but auto giants are closely watching the actions of Ilon Mask.

The electric sports sedan Porsche Mission E has a futuristic appearance and excellent technical characteristics. At least on paper they look great.

Judge for yourself: the range from a single charge is 500 kilometers, the engine power is 600 horsepower, the battery charging time is only 15 minutes to 80% of the capacity through 800-volt charging (Tesla uses 400V).



Instead of fast charging at 800V, you can use the standard at 400V or plug it into a home power outlet, or just park the car over the coil in the garage for wireless charging.

In power, this sedan is not inferior to the well-known "trotters" from the "Porsche". Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes 3.5 seconds. And this despite the fact that Porsche traditionally underestimates its cars in the declared characteristics.

The futuristic design of the Porsche Mission E, experts say, recognizes Porsche's signature features.







In the design, you can highlight a holographic dashboard, a system for tracking the direction of view with scrolling the menu without touching it, cameras with screens instead of rear-view mirrors. The camera inside the cabin recognizes the driver’s mood, selects a suitable emoticon and can automatically publish it to social networks.

Porsche is also repeating Tesla's innovation with “wireless” automatic software updates.

Audi E-Tron Quattro Concept

The more practical Audi E-Tron Quattro Concept SUV should hit the market before the Porsche sports sedan. At least here, the manufacturer named a specific date for the presentation of the commercial model: the beginning of 2018. This will make life interesting for Tesla with its Model X.

The Audi E-Tron Quattro has three electric motors and a 95 kWh battery pack. With such a supply of energy, an SUV will also cover five hundred kilometers.

In normal mode, the power plant is 420 horsepower, and in turbo mode - all 500.

In some options, the Audi E-Tron Quattro is similar to a Porsche sports car, for example, here they will also make the function of wireless inductive charging as an addition to a regular home outlet. A couple of volts to the SUV will add a solar panel on the roof: maybe enough to start the audio system.





The manufacturer claims that the Audi E-Tron Quattro is "almost" ready for autonomous movement. It is equipped with radars, a laser scanner, cameras and ultrasonic sensors.

Judging by the development of automobile concerns, the future of science fiction films is already very close.
