Lighting control controller LC-07

    Life in maximum comfort is a natural desire that everyone strives for.
    For this reason, when arranging homes, people use automatic systems designed to meet strict requirements.

    Lighting control is one of the basic functions of a smart home, which can not be done.
    We use light very often, besides it is an integral part of the interior.
    Lighting control - why do we need such a system?

    Various devices that provide automated control of home electrical appliances are used in country cottages and ordinary city apartments. With their help, you can create ideal conditions for living in any space.
    Lighting is a dynamic design element that performs an aesthetic and practical role. When using intelligent systems, it changes instantly, "guessing" your thoughts. In this case, you do not need to think about where the switch is located in one or another room.

    Count how many table lamps, chandeliers, sconces in your house? And how many switches? Many? By combining all the lighting devices into one subsystem, you can greatly simplify your life. Moving around the house, you will no longer think about whether I turned off the lights in the bedroom or did not forget to turn on the security alarm. Everything is much simpler - you need to use a special device with which you can control the lighting throughout the house. It is convenient and very simple.

    A home automation system minimizes the number of circuit breakers. It allows you to implement lighting control through mobile devices and a touch panel. Automation makes it possible to adjust the voltage, brightness of the light, as well as to launch light scenarios at certain times. For example, at the moment a tenant arrives at the house, the rooms are lit or the light turns on at the time when a person descends from the second floor on the stairs.

    In the presence of an automated lighting control system, it is not necessary to turn off all light sources when leaving the apartment (house). It is enough to press a button when leaving the apartment and the Smart Home system will not only turn off electrical appliances and turn off the lights, but also activate a burglar alarm. This is another advantage that ensures safety.

    In addition, a home automation system saves money on electricity. With long-running lighting and in the absence of activity, the bulbs turn off independently. This is a good feature with dual benefits. Firstly, safe conditions are created in the house, because the light left unattended is turned off. Secondly, money is saved by paying electricity bills. In the current environment, this is a significant aspect that has a positive effect on the size of the family budget.
    A lighting control device is a reliable assistant.

    In this publication I want to talk about our lighting controller - LC-07 .
    It is designed to control various lighting groups through commands over the HTTP protocol.
    In addition, direct control is possible using standard switches connected to it.

    First, I want to bring to your attention the key features of the LC-07 controller:
    Iron
    • ATmega 328 processor.
    • power keys based on BT139-800 triacs.
    • optical isolation of power and control circuits.
    • voltage control 220 V.
    • monitoring the status of inputs and outputs.
    • supply voltage - 5-35 V, constant;
    • indication:
      • green LED - power supply;
      • yellow LED - blinks when receiving an http request or control pulse from the switch.

    • 8 channels for controlling high voltage circuits (220V)
    • 8 input discrete lines for circuit breakers
    • Dimmable outputs: None.

    Firmware
    • built-in web server for management and configuration
    • http request management (GET method)
    • initial configuration of the LC-07 controller is carried out using the web interface.

    physical characteristics
    • plastic housing for mounting on a DIN rail;
    • overall dimensions: 106x90x57 mm
    • weight: 0.25 kg
    • working temperature range: -25 ° C to 65 ° C

    At the first stage of controller development, all significant aspects were taken into account.
    Work began with the creation of the board. Initially, relays were used as power keys.
    During the development of the board, we immediately chose the case for the device and after the board was “almost ready”, we made the first prototype of the board from plexiglass, drilled the mounting holes for the components and tried to “shove” it all into the case:

    (Initially, we planned to the lighting controller to use our Ethernet module, which is partially described in the article “ Smart Home. Getting Started . In the photo above, it is highlighted in green against the background of the lighting controller board being developed).

    After trying and some corrections, we started to manufacture the first samples using the LUT method (the picture is clickable): (on the KDPV this board is shown ready for installation at the beginning of the article) The device passed comprehensive testing and combat tests in my friend’s apartment. During the test, it turned out that the relays “stick” at the moment of switching on, although the calculated power of the LED lamps connected to one channel was 81 W, and the relays withstand 1.5 kW each. We tried relays from different manufacturers. We tried putting even a magnetic starter. As a result, we switched to triacs and everything worked without problems. Although in another house for 2 years there are LC-03 controllers with OMRON relays and everything works.

    After that, we developed an advanced controller LC-07, in which we made an integrated Ethernet module and power keys on triacs (clickable pictures):

    But what about other technologies?
    Talking about wireless technology makes no sense. They have different characteristics and applications. The use of wire technology involves laying wires in all important places of the apartment.

    (pictures are clickable) Web interface displaying the status of input and output channels: The screenshot above shows that there is voltage at the output of 4 channels, although the relay is in the “Off” status, that is, power the relay is not fed. This, in fact, is a manifestation of the “sticking” effect of the relay. Other articles about our devices for:
