The photo agency accused the magazine of using stains from photographs

    The 2600 hacker magazine received a warning from Trunk Archive: according to company representatives, the magazine stole an ink spot pattern. The stain that was in the upper left corner of the original image.

    A month ago, 2600 magazine received its first copyright infringement warning from Trunk Archive. The sender offered to settle the case amicably for a fine of seven hundred and fourteen dollars. The object of the violation of rights was called the image below.



    And this cover violates the copyright of Trunk Archive.



    The publication in the first half of the day was sure that this was a joke. Later we realized that we are talking about a spot in the upper left corner of the photo. Algorithms allowed Trunk Archive to automatically detect this violation on the cover of the 2012 issue.



    Later it turns out that Trunk Archive cannot be the full owner of the image, because it uses a picture of a Finnish artist .



    So Trunk Archive accuses people of stealing their photos, to which they themselves are not related. And 2600 magazine thanked Trunk Archive for their requirement to open their eyes to the existing problem of trolling in the field of copyright.
