[Female look] DEXP Ixion XL145 Snatch smartphone with 4000 mAh battery

Once upon a time at Geektimes (then Habrahabr) reviews were already written, written from the point of view of a girl, and then for some reason they forgot about such an interesting idea. In general, the bosses gave me the new DEXP Ixion XL145 Snatch , told me to be like a couple of weeks and describe all the impressions without embellishment. Well, I'm doing it.

I myself owe it all to the DEXP brand about everything, but my acquaintances periodically wondered: what kind of phone is this? Perhaps, in Moscow this brand is really not very popular yet - simply because of its (brand) specifics. But in the regions of Russia, DEXP is known also because this brand belongs to the largest retail network specializing in portable electronics - DNS. Which, by the way, is originally from the region - from Vladivostok.

The hero of this review belongs to a series of "long-playing" DEXP devices. This line includes as many as 10 smartphones with batteries of increased capacity. Thus, the buyer can choose a “tenacious” device in accordance with his preferences in terms of screen size, power of “iron” and, of course, price. There is simply no analogue to such a proposal in Russia: any competitor has no more than 1-2 smartphones with large batteries. That is, to choose from them, in general, is nothing. Alright, it's time to end with the marketing “peel”. Finally, I’ll give you a picture where the brand actively illustrates its positioning in social networks. As they say, a look from the inside.

So, the device in question is called DEXP Ixion XL145 Snatch (in Russian "Sleep ... whether"). Snatch in literary translation means grab. This is the original name of the cult film “Big Jackpot” by no less cult Guy Ritchie. And who knows how the legendary Dmitry Puchkov aka Goblin translated this tape? That's right - "Sleep ... whether." But I will not say such words, I'm still a girl. Although you understand what I mean. In general, the idea is that DEXP was “inspired” by the original Highscreen Zera S Power model. And they decided to do the same, only much better. As a result, at a lower price - at 500 rubles - the device turned out to be with an 8-core processor instead of the 4-core one in Hayskrin, with a more ergonomic design (back panel without sharp corners, texture under the skin), with a better camera (8 megapixels instead of 5 for HighScreen ) and advanced software - in particular, The front camera shoots much better in low light. As a result, we got the most sophisticated compact (4.5 inches) smartphone with a large battery in our vast vast limited market. To lovers of shovels, as they say, is dedicated.

Kit

I would call it meager - a guarantee, a manual, a data cable and a network charger. For some reason there are no headphones / headsets. Many will say - and do not, anyway they are usually slop, but I would have come in handy. But alas! I’m far from a music lover, I hardly listen to music, but occasionally watch videos in transport.

Design

It seems that similar devices from B-brands already had a carriage and a small trolley. But in DEXP, they themselves admitted that ... they borrowed, in general ... In general, I can say that the device looks nothing like that. Not scary. And there is some claim to style. Although remote - the device is, of course, far from the iPhone. But the Snatch salt is also not in the design ... Frankly

, this is not a female option. Unless, of course, take as a basis the generally accepted opinion that women need smartphones thinner and lighter. Snatch - natural brick 13.5 mm thick.

This is especially striking when you consider the small size of the phone itself (the screen by today's standards is even small - 4.5 inches). But what can you do - you need to fit a 4000 mAh battery somewhere, alas, you can’t get super-fine with it.

I note that in the palm of your hand the smartphone fits comfortably thanks to the rounded edges of the back panel. And in the hand it doesn’t especially slip due to the rough structure of the back cover. I got used to brickwork in a few days. It's nice when your phone runs on a single charge for a long time. My main device - LG (I won’t call the model so as not to be accused of anti-advertising) with a 2200 mAh battery - usually stably stays at the end of the working day. You always have to carry an external battery in a bag, it weighs like three bricks. Yes, you must not forget to recharge it regularly.

OK. Consider the DEXP Ixion XL145 Snatch from all sides. On the front panel, of course, is the screen. The side frames are minimal.

Above the screen there is an earpiece, light and proximity sensors, a front camera, an LED for notifications. Under the display there are three control keys, they have a dim white backlight. The front panel is covered with glass. There is no evidence that it is some kind of super-protected, but I have no complaints - fingerprints are not very noticeable and are easily wiped with a movement on clothes. It was not possible to catch scratches noticeable in a couple of weeks of the test. Although I was not particularly thrifty - I threw the phone into my purse, where usually it just doesn’t lie around - both keys and a nail file.

On the left side of the phone - the volume key, on the right - enable / disable. The location is convenient, I reach without problems.

On the top of the phone are headphone and data cable inputs, at the bottom there is only a microphone hole.

The back panel, as I mentioned, has a skin-like texture. Of course, this is ordinary plastic, but still fingerprints are not visible and even more scratches. The camera window and flash are very recessed into the body. Also on the rear panel there is a speaker mesh. Thanks to the two “points” protruding above the cases, the volume of the ringtone is almost not reduced if the DEXP Ixion XL145 Snatch lies on the table with the screen up.

The cover is removable, under it we see two slots for microSIM and a slot for a memory card. Well and an impressive-looking 4000 mAh battery, of course.

In conclusion of this section I will say that the assembly of the device is excellent - the case without the slightest squeaks or backlashes.

Screen

The diagonal by today's standards can be called small - 4.5 inches. Do not be so fat phone, I would call it compact. Screen resolution - 960x540 pixels. It seems to me that it was possible to put an HD display for 7,500 rubles. But alas! (However, the Highscreen Zera S Power also has qHD, not HD). The graininess is noticeable, the fonts and edges of the icons are not smooth enough.

But I’m ready to praise the quality of the image on the screen. Thanks to IPS and OGS technologies (there is no air gap between the glass and the matrix), the image is very juicy, natural color reproduction, viewing angles are as wide as possible. There is a good supply of brightness, excellent readability in the sun.

Camera

The DEXP Ixion XL145 Snatch has two cameras. The main one has a resolution of 8 megapixels. The quality of the photo is not bad, with devices for 7,500 rubles it does not get better. Judge for yourself:

Front-facing selfie camera - 2-megapixel. She also does not have enough stars from the sky, but chatting via video is better than some competitors' VGA cameras. Yes, and you can do a good selfie. Here, say, this:

The camera interface is like this:

Iron, speed

Here we see a small and inexpensive telephone in front of us, but nevertheless, in its “bowels”, in addition to a capacious battery, there is a powerful 8-core processor! Chipset - MediaTek MT6592 (8 cores at 1.7 GHz). The amount of RAM is 1 GB.

I didn’t “benchmark” the benchmarks, all these numbers that are not related to real life make me only discouraged. I’ll tell you my impressions - XL145 Snatch is very powerful! This is not surprising, because the screen resolution is quite low. The interface works smoothly and without any delays, the applications start instantly, there are no "subsidence" in performance - neither if there is a lot of software running in the background, if many applications are being updated, or if there are a lot of "heavy" tabs in the browser. I don’t like mobile 3D toys (I think it’s better to play on consoles), but for the purposes of the test I launched Modern Combat 5 and Asphalt 8 - even on the maximum schedule everything is fine.

The amount of internal memory of the smartphone is 8 GB. A significant part is occupied by the system, 4 GB is allocated for installing programs, and about 2 GB remains for photo / video. I don’t have a music or video archive on my phone, so that was enough for me. But if you want everything you can buy a memory card, supported by microSD, up to 32 GB.

DEXP Ixion XL145 Snatch is equipped with modules 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS. Everything works well, there’s nothing to complain about. Work with two SIMs is supported, but since the radio module is one, then during a conversation on one, the second network will be unavailable.

The sound quality during the conversation is excellent, the volume margin is even in a noisy room. The speaker ringtone can also be heard in any setting and the vibrating alert is powerful. As for listening to music - as I already said, I am not a music lover, but I asked more experienced colleagues - they say that the quality in general is average - neither good nor bad.

BY

DEXP XL145 Snatch runs on Android 4.4.2. The interface is “bare”, without any shells. There are preinstalled software - Yandex services, Dr.Web antivirus, Navitel and 2GIS navigators, FBReader book reader, VKontakte client.

A menu is available to control the operation of two SIM cards, you can select the default network for conversations, video calls, messages, and the Internet. In the list of calls, SMS, etc. it was clearly noted which “sim card” was used.

Battery

I left the most delicious in the end. Well, you wonder what a 4000 mAh battery can do?

I will say right away - I'm a telephone "maniac." For me, a smartphone is a continuation of the hand, I regularly read all kinds of social networks, write on Twitter and Instagram, read news, share some information with friends, I actively use instant messengers, mail. I’m not calling so much, but I’m still calling. I also love all sorts of casual toys and read electronic books. Sometimes I watch streaming video.

My work is most often associated with traveling, so I rarely get to sit quietly in an office near an outlet. Actually, that's why there was always an external battery in the bag - my regular phone usually goes down at zero at seven in the evening. And the XL145 Snatch, and upon arrival with me home, usually still has about 40% of the battery charge. I forgot about the external battery. I suppose that if you are not using the smartphone as actively as I do, then it can easily be enough for 4-5 days without recharging.

By the way, keep in mind that the XL145 takes a long time to charge, more than 3 hours. And this is from the outlet, from the computer via USB even longer.

conclusions

So I wrote a female review, perhaps not a female phone at all. Well, really, why did they give me this brick? :-) Okay, just kidding.

The phone is pretty, albeit far from original and not too attractive in appearance. Thick and heavy is a fact. But not so much that it was impossible to live with it. I got used to it in a couple of days, as I already said. One friend recently bought a case with a built-in battery for her iPhone. And, I tell you, it’s better to have my external battery, otherwise I get such a bandura - you can kill it. Compared with it, the DEXP Ixion XL145 Snatch is even very slim. In general, if you are a girl who cares about the autonomy of the phone, do not be alarmed by the size of our DEXP.

The rest is very pleased with the fast and stable operation (8 cores - not a joke!), Good screen quality, decent assembly. I would like a HD-screen (but it would probably still affect autonomy for the worse) and a more megapixel camera, but ... For 7,500 rubles, the option is already good, analogs with a 4.5-inch screen, 4000 There is practically no mAh battery and an 8-core chip.

If you still want more, then go ahead and study the rest of the models with large batteries from DEXP. Let me remind you, there are 10 of them, and among them there are devices with Full HD-screens and cameras with 13 megapixels. In general, there is plenty to choose from.
