Heavy Carpet, Part 2. Overview of 8 Carpets with Character

This time, much more interesting carpets got into the review, which significantly differ from each other in many respects. First of all, they are all large (with the exception of one), so it is very convenient to wave at them.
Each of the carpets has its own character, which distinguishes them from each other. And it really is felt. All carpets are fabric, for every taste, color and size. And perhaps the most important point. Each of these carpets is much better than any carpet tested in the first part. But their price is corresponding - about 1000 rubles and more.
Simply put, this is a kind of guide to different carpets.
Under the cut 18 photos. Not all carpets are shown in the photo above, since I had different carpets at different times. And there is one carpet, which I will discuss only in the next review.
The review presents 8 carpets:
- SteelSeries Qck + Fnatic Asphalt Edition
- SteelSeries Qck Mass
- Kingston HyperX Fury Pro L
- Roccat taito midsize
- Corsair MM200 XL
- Cougar speed l
- Cooler Master Storm Speed RX L
- XTrac Pads Fat Mat
And before starting, I will say a few things.
Firstly , I get perplexed with one chip - to let the carpet feel through the hole. Or better yet, stick a piece of carpet to the box to check out its surface. In my opinion, this chip was introduced in 2008-2009 by Razer (I have not seen such a thing before with anyone else, although I may be mistaken), and since then it has become very popular. I think this is stupid, even in terms of design. It is almost impossible to evaluate the quality of the surface by putting one finger there (or what else can you put there?), So the value of this chip is zero. I have never been able to evaluate a carpet this way.
An even more stupid thing is to stick a piece of surface or substrate to the box. The Roccat Taito box did just that. 2 pieces are stuck, one is a surface material, the second is a piece of substrate. Seriously? And how should I rate the carpet? Most carpets are almost the same to the touch. You can only distinguish a surface like Speed from a surface like Control.
In general, this is not the best solution. Manifest
Secondlypacking format. The best packaging format is an envelope. It saves a lot of space (when transported in batches to shops), there is no need to straighten the carpet or put it under the encyclopedia after the purchase, and the surface with the substrate does not deform. However, such packages are inconvenient in cases when you take the carpet with you. Therefore, such an envelope is relevant only for small carpets made of any material, whether it be fabric, plastic or even aluminum. For large carpets - not an option (although not always, too, and you will soon see this).
Next are the two most common options: a rectangular box of different cardboard density and a tube, usually made of cardboard or plastic. Of these two packages, the tube is the best option. The fact is that the carpet is conveniently folded into a tube, and when thrusting it into the box, he himself seeks to straighten out under his own power. As a result, traces of bending on the carpet remain clearly visible, where it was pressed and bent in a box (a good example is Asus Echelon, which after such packaging did not straighten on the table). If the carpet lies in the tube, then the load on the entire carpet is much more uniform and after removing the carpet from the tube, the carpet will most likely straighten up immediately and it will not have any visible excesses that could interfere with the movement of the mouse. I drew attention to this not without reason, but everything has its time.
This time, criteria were formulated for the selection of carpets: large size, carpet thickness of at least 4 mm, a cost of 1000 rubles or more. Even if they do not fit the criteria, I introduced them at my own discretion.
The thickness of the carpet is due to its convenience. Typically, such carpets are slightly deformed under the weight of the mouse and hand, which causes additional friction and the mouse is more easily controlled. In addition, they play the role of pillows for the hand, and I like it.
The rating system and tasks from the previous part have not changed, but I added a slightly more detailed description and introduced several new terms. All other details were also considered in the last part. Only new carpets appeared. As before, the reliability of carpets is not taken into account.
A detailed description of the evaluation criteria for each carpet is presented.in the first part of the review .
One criterion is added - description . Two new terms have been introduced: “tracking” and “feedback” (aka “feedback”). Tracking - the accuracy of positioning the cursor on the screen, depending on how the mouse moves along the carpet.
Feedback is a tactile sensation, a tactile feedback from leading the mouse along the carpet.
Mouse: Roccat Kone XTD Optical, ground legs, sensor - Avago SDNS-3988, resolution - 1600 dpi.
Table material: rough surface, textured wood.
Let's get started!
SteelSeries Qck + Fnatic Asphalt Edition [ ↑ ]

In general, this is one of the carpets, which should be called the golden mean. But first things first. The substrate is a rough tongue of a cat 4 mm thick. The optimal thickness, in my opinion, the carpet straightened out almost immediately, only the left and right parts remained slightly curled for a day or two. It’s not scary, having pressed a carpet, to ride on it comfortably, and further it will be smoothed out. All Qck + with a drawing and a thickness of 4 mm do not differ at all. That is, sliding on any such carpet will be the same, regardless of the pattern. Only drawings are different.
The carpet is optimal in speed and control, the slope is made exactly in the direction of speed. He has a good glide, while it is not dry, but oily, that is, the mouse seems to be pulled to the carpet. This is partly due to the 4 mm substrate, since the carpet is partially deformed under the weight of the arm and mouse, which creates additional friction, and, as a result, control. So this is a fairly fast carpet with a pleasant grip, but the viscosity of this carpet, in my opinion, is not enough.
A great choice for those who work with low sensitivity and love to wave their hand all over the carpet. His tracking is very even, the cursor effortlessly hovering to any point, moreover, he has a good stopping ability. At high sensitivity, there are small difficulties in controlling the spray, but I also have this problem with other similar carpets.
The carpet is practically not contaminated, dust and hair are easily brushed off, there are no traces of a sweating hand, so it is unpretentious in cleaning. A great choice for people who like easy gliding, use low sensitivity on the mouse and love to wave.
SteelSeries Qck Mass [ ↑ ]

Carpet: Black Qck and Qck with a pattern. Next come dimensions that do not affect gliding and control at all, as well as thickness, which slightly affects gliding. Moreover, the difference in thickness almost does not change the nature of the slip itself. That is, a thicker carpet will bend under the weight of a hand with a mouse and the speed on such a carpet will be slightly lower, while control will be better expressed (hereinafter there will be a real example with Roccat Taito). And vice versa. And also a smaller thickness gives a more stable glide, but the speed increases due to stiffness (that is, the carpet does not bend, which means it serves only as a surface for the mouse, all rigidity comes from the table itself).
So here. Black Qck have different sizes, but only two thicknesses: 6 mm - Qck Mass and Qck Heavy and 2 mm - just black Qck and Qck + (large size). And since Heavy is exactly the same as Mass, only more, I decided not to overpay for Heavy and take a smaller carpet. The size of this carpet was enough for me, and if it were required, I would then take Heavy.
The carpet backing is still odorous (not smelly, but rather odorous), in a week or two this smell will disappear. The substrate itself is exactly the same as that of Qck + with a picture - a rough tongue of a cat, only 6 mm thick. The carpet straightened after about 5-10 minutes, for this it took only a couple of times to bend it in the opposite direction, despite the fact that it was tightly folded in the box. That is, not only the thickness, but also the consistency of the rubber affects the straightness of the carpet. Especially such convenience will be appreciated by those who travel to LAN-tournaments. I turned it into a tube, cleaned it, arrived, turned it around - the mat was new and absolutely smooth.
The feeling that you are rolling a mouse on an air cushion. It's nice, besides this thickness hides all the bumps at the surface of the table (if any). The most important thing in this carpet is the fabric. That is, the carpet is felt as ragly as possible, warm and lamp. This feeling of a rag at hand is worth a lot.
Gliding is also interesting. Firstly, it is uniform on all planes. Secondly, it is quite viscous. But one thing I still didn’t like - there is dryness in the slip. The carpet is much slower than Qck + with a pattern, because the fabric has no processing, but the mouse moves quite easily, and the carpet has excellent stopping power. The tracking on it is good, smooth, the movement is confident, stable. In this case, the initial, first movement is somewhat difficult to set due to viscosity, so adjusting to the target at high sensitivity can be difficult (in comparison with Qck + with the figure). And because of the dryness, he lacks the feedback, the feeling that he had made a certain path to the carpet with the mouse, and I did not really like it. Strictly speaking this carpet is more suitable for control lovers and high-sensors (the spray here is pretty well controlled), but its dryness may not suit anyone. There are those who will like the uniformity of movement vertically and horizontally. Simply put, on this carpet I did not feel the “aimbot sensation” when shooting. Accurate arrows will understand me here :) I’ll venture to suggest that the movement along the 2 mm black quick will be slightly more stable, fast and stiff precisely because of the thin substrate. The remaining sensations from the slide are likely to remain the same. that the movement along a 2 mm black quick will be slightly more stable, fast and stiff precisely because of the thin substrate. The remaining sensations from the slide are likely to remain the same. that the movement along a 2 mm black quick will be slightly more stable, fast and stiff precisely because of the thin substrate. The remaining sensations from the slide are likely to remain the same.
And now the most unpleasant moment: the carpet perfectly collects all dust with hair and other dirt, and since the carpet tends to stretch when you move your finger over it (such a fabric), all this rubbish is clogged into it and it is very difficult to get it out of it. So this carpet is likely to have to be washed frequently. With Qck +, such problems are not observed. True, I did not notice any sweat marks on it. But still, this is one of the worst carpets in terms of pollution, so I recommend sitting behind it only with clean hands. In all other respects, this is a very nice carpet. I would probably even prefer a thickness of not 6 and not 2, but 4 mm. But there is no such carpet, and a thickness of 6 mm is quite fine with me, especially since it has its undeniable advantages.
Kingston HyperX Fury Pro L [ ↑ ]

The first two carpets are really good. But even they have strong competitors. Kingston released a new carpet and they pleasantly surprised me. In general, I do not trust the carpets of companies that have never produced them before, but as soon as this carpet came to me, all doubts instantly disappeared. The carpet is completely new, released in 2015, but it appeared in Russia only now.
First of all, what I felt when I took the carpet out of the box - it is large, heavy and with a dense backing. Then I picked up Qck + and compared them visually. It seemed to me that something was wrong with the thickness of the Kingston carpet. By sight, he was half a millimeter thicker. I thought I was wrong, but no matter how. Measured - 4.5 mm thick. The caliper is our everything.
After opening the box, there is a distinct smell ... soles for sneakers. According to the company, the substrate is made of rubber. I don’t know if this is actually so, but the smell is very similar. As if a new pair of sneakers had just left the factory. The substrate itself is very soft, but very dense. The texture is the same - a rough tongue of a cat, but far from being so full of holes as on all other carpets. That is, here the substrate is made of finely porous rubber, when the other carpets have much larger holes in the substrate. Due to its density, it bends less at hand and provides more stable gliding.

The carpet straightened up almost immediately (traces of bends can be seen, which will eventually become smoother on the table - thanks to the rectangular box). If it were a tube, the ends of the carpet would also be slightly folded, but they would immediately be smoothed out. And here excesses are clearly visible. True, this does not interfere with sliding, so you just need to put it on the table.
The first sensation is Qck + with a pattern. Just the feel of the surface. But! It is black - this is one time, it is thermally processed - these are two. The logo at the carpet is made with the entire surface as a whole, and not painted. That is, nothing will interfere with either the hand or sliding.
The edges of the carpet are burnt, as if the fabric was neatly fused into the substrate, but, nevertheless, this edge is felt. Personally, this does not bother me, since in most cases I use only a brush, but lovers of waving all over the carpet will clearly feel this. It does not interfere, does not cut the hand, but it is felt. And this feature is worth remembering. Attempts to separate the surface from the substrate did not lead to anything - everything was done very reliably.
The carpet has good glide - soft, oily, in speed it is slightly faster than Qck +, while its stopping ability is slightly worse. Most likely, this is due to a very dense weaving of the surface and a more elastic substrate, which is less prone to deformation. Otherwise, everything is fine with him: even tracking, stable movement, the mouse moves easily in any direction, since the differences between vertical and horizontal sliding are hardly noticeable. Well done and refinement to the goal, and pixel accuracy does not suffer. As for the entire class of “high-speed” carpets, I had problems with spray control, but these are the features of my mouse settings. Dust practically does not stick to the carpet, the rest of the dirt does not stick to it at all, so the carpet does not need constant cleaning.
Bottom line - Kingston released a high-quality, interesting carpet for a combination of characteristics. It is black - compatible with most sensors. The densely woven surface provides excellent glide, and it’s quite oily, so driving with the mouse around the carpet is easy and pleasant, and most importantly, control is maintained (as for a high-speed carpet). It has an excellent substrate - one of the best in performance in comparison with the substrates of other foam rubber carpets. The cauterized edge will provide durability, moreover, it is made very carefully. Uniform movement vertically and horizontally is a plus for those who do not like differences in gliding. HyperX Fury Pro is a worthy choice for lawners, as well as for lovers of large and high-speed carpets. This is one of the fastest carpets on the review.
Roccat Taito Midsize [ ↑ ]

Packing: plastic disposable box with inserts of the surface and the substrate of the carpet
Dimensions: 400 x 320 x 5; 400 x 320 x 3
Surface Type: Speed, semi-gloss
surface material: neoprene
quality execution substrate: 2/4
Slip: different; vertical glide is slower than horizontal.
Here I start with the box. Taito packaging is a great example of how not to do it. Disposable (after opening you will not close it back), plastic, not suitable for further storage of the mat. The inserts were especially amused to “evaluate” the surface and backing of the carpet. In general: unpack, discard and forget.
The carpet itself is wrapped in polyethylene to stay clean and not unfold in the box. The carpet backing - the cat's rough tongue, the same smell as any Qck - smells strongly, but does not stink. It adheres well to the surface of the table, however, the carpet itself was in no hurry to straighten out, especially the part that was folded the most (I had this side on the right side of the carpet). Even after some time, the carpet did not want to straighten out, but for me this is not critical, since I used its left side. And still it’s unpleasant - because of the tight curl of the carpet, it straightens for a long time, besides, the part of the surface that was most curled began to tuberize. Although it is possible to straighten it, it will no longer be a flat surface in this place (this can be seen in the photo). It is possible that this is the cant of my copy.
The carpet glide is moderate, a good balance is maintained between speed and control, and the slope here is made precisely in the direction of control. The surface of the carpet is oily and moderately viscous, good control over all actions is maintained. Very nice uniform glide. The spray is well controlled, its pixel accuracy is just fine. Finishing a goal does not require much effort, but it is more difficult than with HyperX Fury or Qck + with a drawing. The stopping ability is moderate. This carpet is the optimal choice between speed and control.
The mat collects dust well, otherwise it requires minimal maintenance.

In addition, there is the same carpet, but the thickness of its substrate is 3 mm, and it is slightly different in slip. Taito with a substrate thickness of 3 mm straightens right away, it does not have any bends and glides on it more quickly - the thickness of the substrate affects it. At the same time, viscosity is a little lost, the feeling of a pillow at hand is lost and the movement on such a carpet is a little harder to control, since the carpet is almost not deformed and there is no additional friction. The carpet retains its oil-viscous glide in any modification, be it 3 or 5 mm thick. However, a carpet with a substrate of 3 mm has a slightly higher speed, less control, a slightly worse stopping power compared to a 5 mm carpet.
In general, this carpet is the golden mean in the ratio of speed and control. Due to the viscosity of the carpet, control is very pronounced, while it has a moderate speed, although inferior to more high-speed carpets. A carpet with 3 mm thickness of the substrate has a more pronounced speed, with 5 mm - more pronounced control and stability in the behavior of the mouse.
Corsair MM200 XL [ ↑ ]

Packing: a tube of cardboard with insert bottom box surface of the carpet
Dimensions: 450 x 375 x 4
surface type: Speed, semi-gloss
surface material: the fabric
as a substrate of execution: 2/4
Slip: same vertically and horizontally.
But Corsair can carpeted, which I did not expect.
I'll start with the box: the tube is made of thick cardboard, and a piece of carpet surface is stuck to it at the bottom so you can check it out. You know my opinion about this, so move on. The tube is easy to transport, so it is easy to take with you. In comparison with others, this is perhaps the most pleasant packaging.
Carpet - a simple black rectangle, strongly smelling (again, not stinky) rubber, the smell of which will disappear in a few days. The smell is a little specific - like from a can for tennis balls. Pleasant smell. The substrate is a rough tongue of a cat, does not slip on the table, has a substrate thickness of 4 mm and
It is also interesting that the carpet has exactly the same slip on all planes. This, of course, will slightly affect the spray control (with high mouse sensitivity), but guarantees absolutely uniform movement in any direction. The rug is slippery and oily, reminiscent of HyperX Fury and Qck + with a pattern, in speed it is located somewhere between them. That is, it is faster than Qck +, because it has uniform sliding (Qck + has vertical friction), and is approximately equal to HyperX, although perhaps a little slower due to its rag (but this is hardly noticeable). The situation with control is approximately the same. The mouse on the carpet moves easily, the tracking is exceptionally smooth, the pixel accuracy is good, although due to uniform sliding the cursor can take you a little further. than you want (in this case, I recommend lowering the sensitivity of the mouse). Finishing up to the goal is simple and easy. But, as my experience shows, you will have to get used to this rug for some time due to uniform sliding. For the first time this is unusual. It also retains good stopping power for high-speed carpet. And yet, in my opinion, he lacks control because he is slippery and oily, but he clearly lacks viscosity and friction.
At the same time, his fabric is apparently not processed, since it collects dust well. Although dirt and hair, as in the same Qck Mass, do not clog. So you have to clean it from dust. There was no trace of a sweating hand on it.
In general, this carpet is a rather interesting instance. It is similar in gliding to some other carpets and at the same time it is not like anyone. Absolutely uniform in terms of sliding, very good small and dense weaving give it its unique character. And there are no complaints about the quality of execution. Nothing was fluffy anywhere and there were no prerequisites for this. In addition, it is completely black, so it will work with most sensors. I advise this carpet to those who work a lot with graphics, which require precise, smooth and easy mouse movements in all directions.
Cougar Speed L [ ↑ ]

Packing: rectangular box made of thick cardboard with a window
Dimensions: 450 x 400 x 4
Surface type: Speed, matte
Surface material: synthetic fabric
Backing quality: 1,5 / 4
Sliding: various; horizontal glide is slightly slower than vertical.
This carpet is catchy. He has an orange backing that will appeal to fans of all the bright. Or for those who are looking for a set of carpet, harmonizing in color with other devices.
I did not like the quality of the substrate on the carpet, it resembles that of cheap carpets from the first part. She slips on the table (despite the mass of the carpet and its size!), However I threw half a point for the fact that it does not smell at all and the carpet itself straightened straight out of the box. It is likely that this is a merit of the surface itself. Fact is fact. But still there is no sensation of a rough tongue of a cat.
The edges of the carpet are cauterized, while the processing is rather rough. That is, if you drive only with a brush, then the friction on the face is almost imperceptible and it does not interfere, but if you wave your hand along the carpet, this face will be unpleasant to crash or rub your hand. This is not critical, but not everyone will like it. Alternatively, use a wristband. But the durability of the carpet increases. Compared to HyperX Fury, the edge of the carpet here feels tougher.
It is also interesting that here horizontal sliding is slower than vertical. This is due to carpet weaving. In almost all carpets, weaving is longitudinal, this carpet is perpendicular, so moving the mouse vertically is a little easier. Honestly, I liked this option for playing shooters the most. Because with the same spray control, the mouse rises as it were on the “rails”, and when you move the mouse up or down it does not lead to the side. A trifle, but it is felt.
The surface of the carpet is made of stiff synthetics, and therefore it is more like plastic rather than fabric. The carpet itself has a balanced characteristics of speed and control, but more still goes into control. It feels like slipping and is somewhat similar to Taito. However, he has many differences. First of all, due to the surface material, sliding on the carpet feels more rigid and dry, but due to the same weaving, the carpet retains good control. And, although it has a good grip and friction with the mouse, in the slip, in my opinion, it lacks viscosity and oiliness. But it practically does not deform, which provides the mouse with good tracking and stable, confident movement. The carpet doesn’t have the best return recoil, because mouse movement is easy, and because of weaving, the movement itself on the carpet is almost not felt. Nevertheless, the carpet has good pixel accuracy, fine-tuning to the target and has good stopping power. Thanks to the synthetic fabric, the mouse moves relatively easily. Easier when compared to Taito.
Dust collects very well, hair and pile in most cases are shaken off by hand. With the help of a damp cloth, the carpet is very quickly brought to its original clean state.
So this is a very good carpet, which has an interesting surface that looks more like plastic and has several non-critical drawbacks - not the best quality of the substrate and not a very nice processed face. This is a decent carpet for its price and it has a good ratio of speed and control, and the emphasis is on control.
Cooler Master Storm Speed RX L [ ↑ ]

Packing: a rectangular box made of cardboard without window
dimensions: 450 x 350 x 5
Surface Type: Speed, matt
surface material: synthetic fabric
substrate performance: 2/4
Slip: different; horizontal glide is slightly slower than vertical.
With this carpet, everything is somewhat more complicated.
The backing is the same, which has already become a classic - the rough tongue of a cat. It lays well on the table, does not slip. It takes a little time for this carpet to completely straighten out. There is nothing more to say here, so we are heading to the surface.
And here I was guarded by an unexpected man. The weaving near the carpet is somehow unusual (it later turned out to be similar to chain mail), rather dense, but ... The sensor on my mouse just went crazy. She was trivially torn. There were serious tracking issues. That is, I evenly move the mouse along the carpet, and the cursor on the screen jerks, then moves slower, or suddenly jumps sharply from one place to another. I studied this problem and found other people who also said that some mice behave inappropriately on this carpet (for example, Zowie with Avago ADNS-3090 sensor and a custom lens).
The dog was buried in the weaving of the carpet. And also in LOD-e - separation distance from the surface. On my mouse it turned out to be extremely low (in the settings I had the lowest value - Extra Low), and for this carpet this LOD value turned out to be small. I installed more and the sensor began to work adequately. However, it was not necessary to change the LOD on the previous two dozen carpets.
Carpet weaving is very dense, horizontal gliding is slightly slower than vertical, good control is maintained, but the feeling of the surface is more like synthetics than fabric. In speed, it is slightly faster than Cougar Speed. The cursor positioning is excellent, due to weaving it is very easy to move the mouse in any direction, the surface is rather slippery and a little oily. There is no roughness, again, due to the peculiarity of weaving. However, this can also cause control problems (for example, spray in CS). There is a slight dryness in the slip, so in comparison with Taito it is faster, but less controlled. Finishing it up to the goal is simple, but I didn’t like the pixel accuracy on it. Tracking the carpet is fairly flat, but not the best, again, due to weaving. That is, the carpet seems to be like a high-speed one, but it does not have such advantages as any of the presented carpets, and it seems like control is observed, although here it does not have something outstanding. The same Cougar seemed to me more pleasant to control. The reverse return is very weakly expressed - the movement of the mouse is almost imperceptible, although I liked the very guidance on the carpet. The stopping ability is medium.
It is easy to clean with a damp cloth. Only dust settles on it and it is eliminated quite simply.
In general, this carpet leaves a mixed impression. Technically, it is very well executed, has all the qualities to have good speed and control characteristics, but in reality it turns out that it cannot boast anything special. How to simply describe it? Qualitatively made carpet, but without a soul. That's all.
I will give one advice: think before you buy this carpet. It is desirable that your mouse has a customizable amount of separation from the surface (the vast majority of mice have this function, especially in the upper price category).
XTrac Pads Fat Mat [ ↑ ]

Packaging: plastic tube
Dimensions: 406 x 306 x 6.35 (inches - 16 ″ x 12 ″ x 1/4 ″)
Surface type: Speed, matte
Surface material: fabric (nanofiber) Substrate
performance: 2.5 / 4
Glide: various; vertical glide is slower than horizontal.
This is a carpet that was designed in America, produced there (according to the manufacturer) and brought to us in Russia. I had an interesting story with him. My first copy was jammed a little in the box, because of which its rubber was tough and it didn’t want to straighten for 3 or even 4. I changed it to a new one, checked it right away at the store, and when I arrived home I left it under a big encyclopedia. The next day the carpet was almost flat, but it would take about a week to completely straighten it. I used this carpet for a very long time and for me this carpet turned out to be the most interesting of them all.
First of all, in this carpet you pay only for the carpet. Because it is packed very simply - a flimsy plastic tube with the same lid, the carpet itself is wrapped in polyethylene so as not to get dirty. He did not straighten right away because of the largest thickness - 6.35 mm. Although the same Qck Mass straightened up in just 10 minutes, so everything happens in different ways. The mat substrate is completely different. It is a little harder, tougher than any other carpet, but it has the same rough cat tongue. It adheres perfectly to the carpet and does not go anywhere (also because the carpet is quite heavy). It does not have such a strong smell as other carpets; it smells of something sweet. Such a specific, sweetish smell with a touch of something coffee. Good substrate, in a word. And the mouse on it feels like a pillow. The surface material is also interesting - it is nanofiber. I don’t know what material it is made of, but the carpet turned out to be very viscous. It is also interesting that the fabric at the edges immediately climbs a little, but I could not tear it off. That is, despite the fact that there is no processing of faces, I would not be worried about the reliability of the carpet. Let me explain: on my copy there is a small snot from this glue. No matter how I tried to tear it off, I did not succeed. Therefore, I think that the substrate and surface are glued tightly and the carpet can peel off quite a bit and only along the edges. For 3 weeks of my use, even this did not happen. Workmanship is excellent. I wouldn’t worry about the reliability of the carpet. Let me explain: on my copy there is a small snot from this glue. The slip on this carpet is very unusual - it is very oily and very viscous. This is the most viscous and controlled carpet of all, despite the smooth surface. And I, as a high-sensor, liked it. The carpet tracking is exceptionally smooth, despite the viscosity when moving. The on-screen cursor does exactly what I want. When the mouse moves along the carpet, it feels like the mouse is attracted to the carpet. The control is amazing, pixel accuracy was very pleased. Spray control is also up to par. But something must be wrong? Yes, there are a couple of points. Due to viscosity, it is quite difficult to set the initial movement of the mouse, so adjusting to the goal requires effort. The carpet also has killer stopping power. But for fans to wave their hand, such a carpet is most likely not suitable, because it will take too much effort. And again, I liked this feedback in the form of a magnet. Perhaps this is exactly what I did not have in Qck Mass.
And another fly in the ointment. The carpet with great pleasure collects all the dust that it can reach. Cleaning it even with a damp cloth is problematic, as it immediately finds a new portion of dust. And after a couple of weeks, a white coating of sweat became clearly visible. Therefore, he has trouble with cleaning, and here he is no better than the same Qck Mass. But due to the density of weaving, it does not have to pick out hair and pile. Otherwise, this is a very moody carpet in terms of cleaning.
In short, I found in this carpet what I was looking for - the attraction of a magnet and the sensation of aimbot when shooting. So far, this is my personal favorite, in spite of its shortcomings (long straightening, contamination, somewhat excessive viscosity). Those who are looking for viscous glide and clear feedback will appreciate this carpet. I recommend to those who play at high sensitivity of the mouse.
If you don't need that kind of slip viscosity, check out the XTrac Pads Ripper. All rippers have 3 mm thickness, and therefore they will be faster and less viscous, the sliding pattern will remain the same, because the surface is created from the same material as the Fat Mat carpet.

General impressions
In general, I dealt with various carpets, but fabric carpets for me to this day are the most pleasant to use. Therefore, I pay them so much attention. Each of these carpets has its own set of characteristics, and for sure among them there is one that suits you personally. Each of these carpets has its own characteristics, because of which he may not like it.
Many do not bother at all when choosing a mouse carpet. The mouse is rolling - and it's weird. However, if you choose any expensive carpet, you should take one that will suit specific requirements or will correspond to a certain style of play. And, first of all, you should like it.
A brief summary, for whatever purpose I would take this or that carpet.
Want a nice slip-on carpet with a slope in speed? SteelSeries Qck + with a picture.
More viscous and with a bias in control? SteelSeries Qck Mass or SteelSeries Qck Heavy.
A universal, all-sensory version and just a reliable rug that is easy to clean? Kingston HyperX Fury Pro.
Is it pure for graphics? Corsair MM200 XL.
Balance of viscosity and slip? Roccat Taito.
Slaughter control, aimbot sensation and magnet attraction? XTrac Pads Fat Mat.
Decent rugs at a reasonable price? Cougar Speed or Cooler Master Speed RX.
And remember that all the sensations from sliding are subjective, in addition, a huge number of factors affect the sliding, starting from the mass of the mouse and ending with the surface of the table.
Just look for the option you like. The review will allow you to avoid unnecessary purchases.
