Intel Acquires Recon Smart Glasses Manufacturer

Intel Corporation entered into a partnership agreement with Recon Instruments, a manufacturer of smart glasses for sports enthusiasts, about two years ago. Now both companies are no longer partners, but as a whole: Intel announced the purchase of Recon Instruments .
According to representatives of the acquired company, Recon will continue to work on creating smart accessories, and even more efficiently than before. Now, in addition to Intel financing, Recon has gained access to the company's technologies, which will improve existing products.
And this, in turn, will allow Recon Instruments to develop new markets, trying to become a key player in its field.
As for the smart glasses themselves, they are among the best in their niche. Among other functions of the device can be identified:
- GPS, HD camcorder, microphone and speakers, wide screen with rich colors
- Comes with software for athletes: cyclists, triathletes and runners.
- GPS and airborne sensors measure speed, distance, altitude, and more.
- Compatible with popular heart rate monitors, power meters, cadence sensors, etc.
- Ability to manage calls and SMS during training.
- Built-in BLUETOOTH, ANT + and Wi-Fi
- Battery life is 4-6 hours, depending on the intensity of use.
Owners of Recon Jet glasses can view their performance metrics (e.g. speed / pace and distance, duration, climb / descent, heart rate *, power *, pedal *) by connecting the device to a smartphone. It also allows you to manage calls and SMS during training.
I would hope that Intel support will make Recon products even more functional and practical.
