Patents That Can Kill VoIP
The U.S. District Court has barred Vonage's VoIP provider from using Verizon's proprietary technology to connect to telephone lines, creating a very dangerous precedent.
The fact that Vonage really violated three Veizon patents regarding the provision of VoIP services was announced back in early March. The patents described the technology for transferring calls from a computer to a landline telephone, as well as call waiting functions.
Now Vonage must pay Verizon a fine of $ 58 million, and the leaders of other VoIP providers can stock up on valerian or urgently launch the development of their own technologies, which Verizon will not be able to complain about.
