The transport system of the future Hyperloop from Ilona Mask may be free for passengers

Elon Musk is the author of a large number of projects, which often turn out to be very successful thanks to the original idea, which was incorporated in the project initially. Of course, there are difficulties, but, for the most part, Mask's ideas are being realized. One of the ideas that is close to implementation is the creation of a hyper-speed Hyperloop transport system.

Geektimes already described this system, you just need to recall that Hyperloop is something like a subway, only the “tunnels” are located above the ground, and are a pipeline through which high-speed trains move. The Hyperloop test site is likely to be commissioned as early as 2017. Well, the transport system itself will probably be free for passengers. Nevertheless, Hyperloop is not a charity project at all, it’s just that the profit will be derived according to another scheme.

Namely, a system similar to the one used in many mobile toys, free to play, will work. Passengers will ride for freebut if you want additional services, comfort, advantages - you will need to pay. In addition, Hyperloop developers are pondering another possibility - to receive money for travel from passengers only during rush hours. The rest of the time, travel will be free.

At the same time, the company will not lose a lot of money, since it is planned that Hyperloop will only consume green energy from renewable sources.



At the moment, the company that develops Hyperloop has already signed a contract to acquire a plot of land. In 2016, an 8-kilometer section of the system will be erected, which will be tested until 2017. In 2017, it is planned to put this site into operation. 8 km is, of course, not much, the advantage of high-speed transport will be manifested in much longer sections. The speed of the "train" in the pipeline will be close to the speed of sound.

If the test site performs well, the company will work to deploy a full-fledged transportation system worth several billion US dollars. Hyperloop is planned to be built not only in the USA, but also in Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. True, all this is only after the successful completion of the pilot phase of the project.
