The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation entered the Dynasty fund into the register of “foreign agents”. Dmitry Zimin stopped financing the fund from personal funds, and the head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Alexander Shokhin is ready to appeal to the President of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice with a request to reconsider the decision.

Russian scientist and entrepreneur Dmitry Zimin, founder of VimpelCom, in 2001 opened the Dynasty non-profit family fund for social investmentsto support and develop Russian fundamental science. The mission of the fund is to search and support talents, ideas and projects in the field of natural and social sciences. In 2002, the foundation launched the first program and began to issue grants and scholarships for students and young physicists, in 2003 Dynasty began to support graduate students and young scientists without a degree, in 2007 it began to prepare future scientists among high school students and physics students.
In February 2015, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation awarded Dmitry Zimin the prize “For Patronage of Science” for his special contribution to promoting science and supporting the scientific community, and on May 25, the Ministry of Justice introducedDynasty fund in the register of "foreign agents". This register includes non-profit organizations that receive donations from abroad and, in the opinion of the authorities, deal with political issues.
Dmitry Zimin announced the termination of the fund’s funding: “Of course, I will not spend my personal money under the guise of a foreign country unknown to me. I am stopping financing of the Dynasty. ” Zimin noted that he keeps money abroad and never hid it. In 2015, the fund planned to spend 435 million rubles on its projects.
After the emergence of information that the Ministry of Justice may include the Dynasty Fund in the register of “foreign agents”, 10 academicians and 18 corresponding members of the RAS asked Alexander Konovalov not to include the fund in the register. According to scientists, the fund’s activities “have nothing to do with upholding the interests of foreign states and are funded by Zimin’s private funds, even those held in foreign accounts”.
