Yahoo Technology Turns Smartphone Screen Into Biometric Scanner
Yahoo Labs have developed Bodyprint technology: it turns the smartphone’s screen into a biometric scanner, allowing you to determine the owner of the phone by ear or palm.

Some smartphones now have built-in fingerprint scanners to authenticate users - they replace passwords. But this device is expensive enough to be equipped with mainly top models. Yahoo suggests using a display. A large surface area allows you to scan parts of the body - ears, fingers, fists, palms, pressing them on the display.

Bodyprint with an accuracy of 99.98% determines which part of the body is attached to the smartphone, and with 99.52% accuracy determines the owner. The system identifies users through body parts and their characteristic location - for example, by the way the owner takes the smartphone in his hand.
The accuracy of determining the host by ear was 99.8%, false failures occurred in 1 of 13 cases. This suggests the possibility of using the system as a biometric scanner in mass smartphones, the developers are sure.
