A year ago, Azer Jafur, along with his colleagues from Samsung Electronics Tunisia (SETN), thought about supporting patients with Alzheimer's disease. However, employment at work did not allow to devote enough time for this.

“We wanted to make life easier for patients with Alzheimer's disease, as well as for their family members, but at first we were not sure how to do this. While Alzheimer's disease is currently incurable, studies have shown that mental stimulation in the form of regular reminders of past events can potentially slow the progression of the disease. We saw the solution to the problem precisely in mental stimulation, ”Azer Jafura said.

SETN worked with 3SG BBDO to create Backup Memory, a mobile application that works as a memory stimulator for patients with early symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. The application helps patients to recognize their family members and friends, and also reminds them of their relationships and memories shared through photos and videos.

Such features of the application became possible thanks to Bluetooth, which is used to search for smartphones with Backup Memory installed on them and to connect with them, after which the application displays information about a particular person.

While SETN worked with 3SG BBDO to develop and develop the application, the Tunisian Alzheimer's Patients Association tested the application to make sure that Backup Memory is really good for patients.

Azer and his colleagues are working on modernizing the application and adding additional options. So, for example, it is already planned to include the possibility of determining the location of the patient by using GPS.

Backup Memory is already available on Google Play . So far, only English and French are supported.
