SpaceX: no one laughs when we talk about the colonization of Mars

SpaceX, founded in 2002, was created by Ilon Musk with the goal of colonizing Mars. Now the company is already profitable, SpaceX helps send astronauts to the ISS, is developing a number of parallel projects (one of which is the creation of a satellite network to provide Internet access to residents of hard-to-reach regions), but the main goal remains. Everything else is secondary.

According to SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell, the company has never been shy about talking about the colonization of Mars, and the company itself is working to achieve this main goal.

In addition to SpaceX, there are other organizations that have planned or plan to send a person to Mars. The most famous such project is Mars One. But recently, the project has a lot of problems, andSome project participants even believe that Mars One was created for money laundering. Even SpaceX’s plans to send a man to Mars are not entirely clear. It is known in particular that the company is developing a methane rocket engine, Raptor. This engine may be used in a rocket that will fly to the Red Planet. Nevertheless, there is no detailed plan yet, although it is being worked out.

So, Shotwell believes that sending the colonists to Mars one way is wrong, SpaceX is going to establish a full-fledged colony with the possibility of returning people to Earth. So, throwing people on Mars with a rocket, and then waiting another 30 years for a new rocket to be created is a way that SpaceX will not use. Now the company plans the following:

    Increased Launch

The company intends to establish a regular process of launching rockets into space, using all the sites that SpaceX has. The plans include achieving an indicator of 96 missile launches per year.

    New rocket

The company is restarting the Falcon 9 project this summer, planning to work with version 1.2 of the rocket. The new Falcon 9 is 30% more efficient than the previous version. At the same time, the updated rocket allows to simplify the landing process, for repeated work with the rocket.

    Space internet

Shotwell said that Google and the Fidelity investment fund have invested about $ 1 billion dollars in space satellite communications, in one of the projects SpaceX. But this was not an investment for the development of a global project - both investors plan to use this money to achieve their own commercial goals. SpaceX just plans to work on a global project that will connect the Earth and other planets.

Now the company receives money on Earth, but all the interests of the company, all its projects are still aimed at the development of Mars. And when a person gets to the Red Planet, he will already have the opportunity to use the "space Internet".
