The number of Internet users in China has reached 649 million

According to a report by the Chinese government published by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), 649 million Chinese use the Internet in China. Among them, almost 86% (about 557 million) use mobile devices to access the Network. In 2014, 31 million people connected to the Internet using a computer, while the growth of the mobile segment of users is almost twice as much - 57 million.

Published statistics emphasize that China is the largest mobile market on the planet. At the same time, the growth potential remains very high: less than half of the Chinese are connected to the Internet - 47.9%. Among them, about a quarter are rural residents.

The Chinese are actively using online stores: the largest retailers Alibaba and JD.com in 2014 recorded a 20% increase in sales. Payment systems operated by Alibaba show a 17% increase in transactions. The situation is different with smartphones: in 2014, manufacturers shipped 389 million smartphones, while a year earlier the same figure was 423 million devices.

American and European vendors, which are currently out of the first echelon, significantly strengthen their positions due to the Chinese market. About a month ago, the Finnish Nokia reported on the success of preliminary sales of the Nokia N1 Android-tablet in China - then in less than five minutes a batch of 20,000 tablets was sold out. Recently, Motorola (Lenovo property) said that he is returning to the Chinese market, intending to promote the Moto X and Moto G smartphones along with the Moto 360 smartwatch.
