Hacker servers that DDoS-service Microsoft Xbox Live and Sony PlayStation Network are hacked

A curious case is hacking the servers of the hacker group Lizard Squad. It was this group that disrupted the normal operation of the Microsoft Xbox Live and Sony PlayStation Network services by launching a powerful DDoS attack. Now, as it turned out, the woe-hackers themselves were the victim of other intruders .

The fact is that this group created its own Lizard Stresser service, which allows conducting DDoS attacks on customer orders. Customer data was stored in open (unencrypted) form on the servers of this service. As a result, third-party crackers “stole” the database with data from 14,241 accounts.

At the same time, many accounts still had money intended for Lizard Squad. There were several hundred of such “cash” accounts, and the funds were stored in Bitcoin cryptocurrency. In dollar terms, about 11 thousand US dollars were stored on the accounts of “clients”.

It is worth recalling that the attack on the Xbox Live and PlayStation Network servers was carried out on December 25, 2014. Then the performance of the services was disrupted, and the specialists were able to restore everything in only two days. After the hack, the members of the Lizard Squad team reported that the purpose of the “action” was to demonstrate the companies’ inefficient spending of funds, plus a demonstration of insufficient quality service by companies of their own services.

Not so long ago, police arrested a member of the Lizard Squad team, several more people have been arrested.
