OCZ Plans for New SSDs for 2015

The beginning of any year becomes a time for announcing plans, the 2015th year was no exception. OCZ Storage Solutions at CES 2015 in Las Vegas announced plans to release its own and highly anticipated controller for SSD drives - JetExpress . The company's own development promises to be a revolutionary solution - a universal controller for corporate and consumer drives. Under the cut a little more details.

    JetExpress Controller

So, the JetExpress controller will support both SATA and PCI Express, and the disks will be available in the following formats: M.2, SATA 2.5 '' and SFF-8639.

Thanks to native support for the NVMe protocol and new mechanisms for dynamic error correction, drives based on the new controller will be able to stably maintain a performance level corresponding to PCIe 3.0 x4 speeds over the entire life cycle.

Enterprise-class solid-state drives will be the first signs on the market, they will appear closer to the end of the second quarter of 2015. Until the end of 2015, it is planned to completely switch from a successful, but not the most advanced, Barefoot 3 controller to the new JetExpress.

    OCZ Z-Drive 6000

In addition to the new controller, the new Z-Drive 6000 was also introduced . These, without exaggeration, monster disks are built on third-party PMC Sierra Princeton controllers, however, the controller software is completely developed by OCZ.

As a result, disks made in the SFF form factor have a read speed of 3 GB / s and write 2 GB / s. Random read performance reaches 700,000 IOPS, while random write performance reaches 175,000 IOPS. The maximum capacity of such disks is 3.2 terabytes, however, there are already prototypes of 6.4 terabytes. New controllers will certainly improve the performance of this generation of Z-Drive.

About all the innovations presented at the beginning of the year, of course there will be information on the pages of the OCZ Storage Solutions blog
