FISCHERTECHNIK: 2015 Results

A year ago, I met with the wonderful PakPak project and people who bring programming and robotics to the masses of children. I then wrote the article “FISCHERTECHNIK: chemotronics, ionistors, electrochemical supercapacitors inside the children's designer for programmers” (here is the expanse for choosing a gift for the new year). I was struck by the hardcore nature of their designers, combined with a very human approach to their author’s training courses ( “Robocourse: Teaching Children Programming and Robotics” ).
They also have an amazing selection of old-school children's books on programming and robotics , and now old-school computers have begun to appear. Thus, they themselves, not knowing that, are building a children's hackspace.

ROBOTICS TXT controller with computer vision functions

The ROBOTICS TXT controller is based on two microprocessors with ARM architecture: TI AM3352 and STM32F105. The solution using two microprocessors allows you to unload the main processor, which runs Linux, from tasks associated with processing input and output signals in real time.
The programming of the controller is carried out in the environment of ROBO Pro or in the languages C, C ++, C # and VB.
Features of the ROBOTICS TXT controller:
- ARM Cortex A8 main processor: two cores, 32 bits, 600 MHz
- Peripheral processor: Cortex M3
- Memory: 128 MB DDR3 RAM, 64 MB FLASH
- Display: Color touch 2.4 inches (320x240 pixels)
- External memory: microSD flash memory card
- Universal inputs: 8 pieces digital / analog 0-9V or 0-5 kOhm
- Counting inputs: 4 pieces (Fin <1 kHz)
- Bluetoot / WiFi Combo Wireless Module: BT 2.1 EDR + 4.0, WLAN 802.11 b / g / n
- IR photodetector for the remote control from the kit “Remote control kit”
- USB mini-USB connector for connecting to a PC
- USB USB-A connector with host controller function for connecting a USB camera, USB flash drive and other devices.
- Connecting the camcorder via USB, driver for Linux
- 10-pin connector for connecting expansion modules with I2C interface
- Built-in speaker
- Built-in real-time clock with replaceable battery for measurements at specified intervals
- Connecting to smartphones / tablets via Bluetooth or WiFi allows you to use them as a terminal for the controller.
- Power supply: from the battery via standard fischertechnik 2.5 mm plugs or from a 9 V power supply through a 3.45 mm cylindrical connector.
- Dimensions: 90x90x25 mm
Overview of the insides of the controller
Designer Mini Bots

Designer Mini Bots . These are robots for the little one. It has a control unit that does not need to be programmed. Everything is already programmed. Just select the desired algorithm using the switch.
Pneumatics basics
The basics of pneumatics . Demonstrates the basics of pneumatics during the game. With its help, children will learn the behavior of pneumatic systems, learn how the air pump, cylinders and manual control valves work.
Compressed air is pumped into the pneumatic system using a hand pump. Then it enters the pneumatic cylinders, which set in motion various mechanisms. Small manual valves are used to distribute compressed air.
From the designer you can assemble an excavator and four more models.

Solar cars
Solar cars . Playing with the models of this set, children will see how sunlight turns into electrical energy and then into the movement of the models that they assembled with their own hands.
They will be able to use the children's pool or pond in the garden and compete in a catamaran and boat, in which the base is made of high quality polystyrene foam. Children will learn how the car and the fan, powered by solar energy, function.

Robocourses

Two franchisee partners appeared. One in Moscow, and the other in the harsh Chelyabinsk.
A new program is being prepared for those who have already passed our first 5 courses and become familiar with computer control technologies. The children will study control systems based on the ATMEL AVR ATmega single-chip controller using the C ++ programming language and the Arduino board. Management objects for practical exercises will be from the designer FISCHERTECHNIK.
Master class in Norilsk

We developed and tested a program for a one-day visiting robotics master class for schoolchildren. The event lasts 7 hours with three lunch breaks and warm-ups. We went with this program to Monchegorsk and Norilsk.

Plans for 2016
Grigory Zaitsev:
“Next year we plan to take up the mind and complete the preparation of materials for a children's book on computer control technologies. It may be time to publish it. We will not make a guess.
I would like to meet new interesting people, conduct classes in cities in which we have not been.
Alternatively, you can organize a fisher technician-con without any competition, where people can show each other their crafts and models and just communicate comfortably. ”
