CTFzone First Round Results
Last weekend, July 15-16, the first round of the CTFzone presidential election took place. The first online stage of CTFzone is a qualifying round for the main circle of the presidential election, which will be held this fall as part of the ZERONIGHTS 2017 conference . 765 teams from all over the world took part in the qualifying round - the CTFzone presidential company attracted the attention of participants from 81 countries of the world.
The first round lasted 36 hours and took place in the Jeopardy format. Each team represented the election headquarters of the CTFzone presidential candidate. The main tasks of the headquarters were to increase the level of popularity of the candidate and to obtain votes. For this, the participants were asked to solve 20 tasks of various categories: Web, Crypto, MISC, Forensic, Pwn and Reverse. Points for assignments were awarded according to a dynamic system - initially the teams received the same number of points, however, as the number of participants who successfully completed the assignment increased, the points received for it were recounted.
The most popular tasks were Web and Crypto categories. Forensic and MISC turned out to be the most difficult categories - tasks of these categories turned out to be very few, and one task remained unresolved.
Following the results of the competition, 10 Russian and foreign teams went to the second round - they will be invited to take part in the second round of CTFzone elections and lead their candidate to the final victory.
The second stage will take place on November 16-17 and will be held in Attack / Defense format. Given the high level of professionalism of the past teams, the battle promises to be tense. Therefore, we wish the winners of the first round of luck and look forward to all at the ZERONIGHTS 2017 conference in November.
