We want to give you a New Year gift, but we need your help

We want to give you a New Year's gift, but we need your help!

Yes Yes exactly. We have been trying for a long time to improve the USB stack in ReactOS. And we know how you want it! One of the extreme attempts was the project within the framework of GSoC 2016. This project was successful, the task set within its framework was completed, but in general the work done was not enough. Having intercepted the baton, another volunteer developer Vadim Galyant undertook to fill in the missing gaps.

And now Vadim Galyant appeals to all of you with a request to help with testing:
So today, the test has finally passed on the second old system unit. I tested the usbport.sys driver on an already installed XP by the method of file spoofing.

We need tests on different configurations and hardware (and in virtual machines) and tests of different devices. As I wrote, there is no support for isochronous transmissions (these are audio, video, etc. multimedia). Therefore, on computers with built-in video cameras, there will most likely be problems (if you do not turn them off). Also, there is no Transaction Translator support (this is when connecting non-USB20 devices via a USB20 hub). In general, comprehensive testing is needed. To aim at getting into the trunk, you need confidence in the absence of bugs.

To do the test, you need to take usbport.sys, obtained from https://github.com/vgalnt/reactos/tree/usbport, and after loading from Live media, replace the file in x: \ WINDOWS \ system32 \ drivers \ (without forgetting about insurance copies). Desirable on W2003, but it is possible on XP.

We really count on your help! The future of ReactOS is in your hands!

To inspire your exploits, we attach a video about how the youngest representatives of mankind are testing ReactOS.

We googled this video on the Internet, and judging by the voice, the guy is no more than 7 years old. Enjoy it!
