A garden on the cloud or an overview of IT supermarkets

    image

About 20 years ago, among the city dwellers, the enthusiasm for agro-fitness on its own eco-site, simply called “garden”, was very popular among people. Having your own source of potatoes, independent of the political and economic market conditions, was the right thing, necessary, and - for some time - even economically justified. Having a crisis in control of your own pool of resources was worth the effort.

However, the emergence of stable supermarkets has changed the situation radically. Nowadays, individual lovers of this business are either engaged in this business, either pros or forced.

Time has passed, the country has changed. The country has appeared business and relevant technology. However, the habit of having “everything mine” has too deep roots to just disappear. It’s just that instead of the garden now it’s its own server room, and overseas gigabytes grow on this “garden”.

A few years ago, such a "garden" was a must have for every at least some large company. Today, modern IT supermarkets, called data centers, have entered the market. The boundaries of server capacities have expanded to the boundaries of public clouds. A huge amount of "tasty", useful and affordable IT resources - for any, even the most demanding, taste. It would be a desire.

However, like everything new, clouds need to be explored. But if everyone says that he is the best, then how to choose? Only by comparison. After a little work, I collected the data, and what happened, set out below in the text.

The comparison was based on the average idea of a modern company, based on the experience of our project manager.

The result was a production and trading company (for example, selling furniture fittings and designer furniture of its own production) with several branches in regional centers. There are remotely working employees, a terminal connection is made for everyone. The total number of employee workstations is 60-70 people. There is a private design bureau.

In the request: storage, control of goods, work of employees, active sales department. 1C, CRM, SQL, ERP and other obscure abbreviations are taken to the cloud. Daily backup with a depth of 7 copies. In general, the requirement was 26 vCPU, 300 GB RAM, VPN + 128bit encr., 10x IPv4, 1 Gbit / s to the world, Shared storage: 12 TB low speed storage (SATA, SAS) and 1 TB high speed storage (SSD )

I went over the main “IT-supermarkets” , most often recommended for our market, and took the price as the basis of comparison, as one of the most popular criteria. In general, the following happened:

    Config: 26 vCPU, 300 GB RAM, VPN + 128bit encr. 10x IPv4, 1 Gbit / s to the world,
Shared storage: 12 TB low speed storage (SATA, SAS) 1 TB high speed storage (SSD)

Of course, price is not the only bread - not the only decision-making driver, and there are other fundamentally important criteria. Therefore, in the foreseeable future, in my creative plans (if I live out) - make a comparison in terms of functionality, support, user-friendly interface and other important things. Well, today, so that the comparison does not crack 20 companies to cover trying to grasp the immensity, at least I share it. Use it! I would be glad if it would benefit anyone.

    Have a nice day!
