Smart Bunker FX - Solution for the Micro Data Center

Schneider Electric’s Smart Bunker FX - a solution for the “Micro Data Center” that includes a power supply, cooling system, security and monitoring tools - is all that is present in traditional data centers, but in an isolated, autonomous, secure and strong rack-mount performance.



Smart Bunker FX is an easy-to-deploy and highly secure Micro Data Center solution that includes backup power, cooling and control systems in a single enclosure. It is ideal for locations where there is not enough space for IT, requiring additional levels of physical protection or security.

Smart Bunker FX data microcenters are assembled and inspected directly at the factory. They are delivered ready-made to the consumer, followed by a minimum local installation in the customer’s premises.

The independent and compact design of the devices minimizes the time of their commissioning and the complexity associated with the preparation of a traditional server room. This design also allows their painless movement to another place.

Smart Bunker FX are available in 23U, 42U, and 46U industry standard designs. They are designed for loads from 3.5 to 30 kW, and thus correspond to a wide range of computing needs.

Solution Benefits


Each Smart Bunker FX Series device contains an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), power distribution system, active cooling, environmental sensors, and remote control software.

All devices of the Smart Bunker FX line are made in accordance with the principles of “Plug & Play”, which makes it easy and safe to deploy IT equipment.

For more complete protection of critical systems, additional options are provided, such as suppression of fire, cooling from an external industrial system, biometric safety measures and others (see below).

In the entry-level configuration, Smart Bunker FX includes a UPS, cooling system, Power Distribution Unit (PDU), and remote monitoring. Some cooling, safety and redundancy options are available upon request.

Protection of critical data . The device protects sensitive IT equipment from aggressive environments, vandalism and natural disasters. The device is thermally insulated and maintains the required temperature inside the cabinet, ensuring the durability of servers and network equipment.

Simplify deployment . The device replaces small server rooms in remote locations and directly on the production floor. They are made ready-made and tested before delivery. The standard design has the following characteristics.

- Superior physical protection through heavy steel construction.
- Thermally insulated walls that maintain a stable temperature inside the cabinet.
- The wall design also provides superior acoustic protection.
- Insulated cable entries.
- Access to the front and back of the cabinet with doors opening 180 °.
- Remote control of temperature, power parameters, access to the cabinet, the presence of fire, as well as video surveillance.
- UPS for five minutes of battery life for safe remote shutdown of the system.

The device is ideal for organizations that need fast and cost-effective data center solutions and for those who want to scale their on-premise infrastructure to minimize latency and eliminate bandwidth problems for IoT and computing at the edge of the network.

High Performance Computing (HPC) and High Density . The Smart Bunker FX can be equipped with the appropriate power and cooling equipment to provide up to 30 kW of load in a separate rack. Private Cloud. Smart Bunker FX is a great tool for implementing a private cloud. It is well suited for those enterprises that want to use hybrid cloud models - when only part of their applications are hosted in public clouds.
