Three steps to help combat lack of motivation

Listen to this.
I understand everything clearly.
Getting out from under the covers in the morning is not easy.

There are many excuses not to do this, but “I just don’t have any motivation today” is already too much.

So here’s what I’ll do next:
I’ll talk about why saying this is stupid.
And I will help you deal with a lack of motivation.
Is going?

Why “I Have No Motivation” is a stupid excuse

This is a universal excuse that is suitable for EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD.
It appears in various forms:

"I do not need it."
"I am the pass."
"I can’t do this right now - I have no motivation."

All this sounds as if all your life energy, all your desire to do something were sucked out of you, and you are, by and large, nothing more than a walking corpse. So I imagine someone with a “complete lack of motivation”:

But the point is not a complete lack of motivation.

It’s just not enough for you to do certain things.

You have no motivation to jog after a long working day. Ok, I get that.
You have no motivation to write 500 words early in the morning. This is also understandable.
You don’t have any motivation to continue editing the video, the work with which you won’t finish, because just returning to it will take you forever. I know that.

Can't you see what is happening?

Now this universal excuse that you can use for anything becomes a specific problem.
This particular problem is completely solvable. And so you are so scared to part with your favorite "I have no motivation."
And now, instead of endlessly asking the open question:
“How do I motivate myself?”, All you need to ask yourself: “How do I motivate myself for a 10-kilometer run?”

When you figured out exactly what you lack motivation for, you can solve the problem.
And you can do this in the following way.
Three steps to help you find motivation for specific tasks.
You can go through these three steps to get to the roots of lack of motivation, find a problem, and then solve it using specific tools for this problem.

Step 1: Understand WHAT YOU are putting aside

Do you really want to mow the lawn later or you never do it anyway - because there are always “some obstacles” in your way? Maybe you are afraid to garden and grow fruit just because you just don’t know anything about it?

Here is a wonderful quote: “If you really want to know, ask three times: why?”

Around this is built a whole business strategy.

Why do you never run after work?
Because you have no motivation.

Why don't you have motivation after work?
Because your work is exhausting you.

Why is your work exhausting you?
Because you are bored by colleagues, 90% of whom you hate.

Interesting. It turns out that someone thought that he was avoiding jogging due to lack of motivation, but it turned out that it might be worth looking for another job. So, maybe, to get motivation, you should take a side job.

Step 2: Before tackling something, find someone who does the same

Think about who can splendidly motivate you to write more? Writer! Note, for example, Jeff Goines (Jeff Goins).

Want to play basketball better? I know a guy who plays well. His name is James .

Need a kick in the ass to bury your nose in your own business? Let my friend Gary come to your aid:

As a result of the action of our “competitive” essence, when we see that someone is doing what we want to do, then every time we get the same reaction: “If he maybe I can too. "

It doesn’t matter how much they can be ahead - you will always be visited by the thought: "He is no different from me." And you must kindle a raging flame with this spark.

Step 3: Obsessively Watch Inspirational Videos

Watch, read, listen and absorb everything that comes from personalities that inspire you - everything that you can only find. I'm serious.

You are already pulling the cat by the tail, so that you can reach it to any start of work.

Because after a certain period of time devoted to watching a video with your “mentors”, listening to their inspiring stories and encouraging stories, reading about their success, you will eventually be fed up with all this and raise your own ass.

That's all.

The main thing in successful motivation is to motivate yourself in a specific direction. Just spend all the time during which you are “busy” with nothing more than procrastination to motivate yourself to do what you want to do.

This is the fastest way I know of going from "I don’t have enough motivation to run" to a 10-kilometer run. I am not kidding. Because this is exactly what I did.

Result

June 14, 2015 I had a very bad day. I lost a lot of time putting off running and sawing myself for not running for several days.
I really wanted to run 10 km in less than an hour. I ran 10 km for the first time in February, but I just lacked the determination to keep within 60 minutes.

I "was not motivated." I haven’t been running for several days, I was tired, and a complete mess was going on in my head.

So I watched a motivational video with Greg Plitt, a fitness trainer who recently died in a tram accident. I immediately thought: “Go crazy, but this guy literally died in training, and I'm sitting here and whining. It’s not so difficult to run 10 km in less than an hour. ”

I watched the video again. And again. And again. As a result, by eight in the evening I shod and went for a run. I listened to the audio track from the same video while running. I must have listened to it 100 times that day, but when I finished, the clock showed 56 minutes and 28 seconds.

Bingo!

I did exactly the same thing yesterday and today. I watched the video with speeches by Gary Varneychuk in order to motivate myself to work more actively, which was the reason for the beginning of writing this article - at 9 pm on Tuesday, despite the fact that on this day I already wrote 3 thousand words. So “I have no motivation” is no longer considered.

So:
  • Understand exactly what you are avoiding.
  • Find someone who has already done what you are avoiding.
  • Watch videos of people who inspire you as much as possible.

So what are you really shunning? And what are you going to do about it?
