How does a startup start? Part 2

    After the first part of the article, in which we examined the basic elements that help to start doing something new (in our case, a startup), we will discuss today the factors that are auxiliary, and try to identify the area where all this needs to be applied. Let's get started!

    So, let's recall the basic elements, each of which can lead to an “action” and which were described in the first article:
    1. Internal need;
    2. Wednesday (environment);
    3. External circumstances;

    Basic elements literally force us to do something. Speaking of “catalysts”, we can say that their role, on the contrary, is to facilitate this activity for us. What can be attributed to them?

    1. The presence of an idea.

    I have experienced from my own experience that the presence of an idea that you like and that you constantly think about is capable of fundamentally influencing how you perceive information. A simple example, before I came up with the idea of ​​WhereParking, articles on entrepreneurship were for me nothing more than entertaining content. I had nothing to do with entrepreneurship and didn’t really project them onto myself. I just bookmarked it with the thought “I will use this information soon” and of course this did not happen.

    But as soon as an idea captures all your thoughts, and you try to understand how to implement it most effectively, everything starts to “move”: “Features of the distribution of content on instagram?” - okay, we’re trying cross-posting. “If the user brings other paying users, then do not give him discounts, let him use the content for free while the rest pay” - okay, we’ll apply on our product. In general, any information that has not previously settled in memory begins to be carefully analyzed and applied.
    But it should be understood that the vague desire “I want to do business” is not what I am talking about. Look for a specific idea, a specific niche that will become more and more clear in your head, thereby helping to act.

    2. The ability to realize now (skills / money / communication / etc) The

    ability to start realizing your idea right here and now is wonderful. It’s a drive, it’s breathtaking, it’s cool. But such a scenario is the most ideal and comfortable scenario (after all, this is great when you are an expert in this field, and there are no problems with finances).

    A good example of such a scenario is the well-known (but real) story about Ferruccio Lamborghini, who, due to dissatisfaction with the quality of his Ferrari, decided to make his own sports car, with bulls and hinges. After all, he had his own tractor production, had finances. And it was precisely thanks to the opportunity to immediately begin to realize what was planned that helped to do the plan before such feelings as resentment and irritation were not replaced by indifference.

    But at the same time, such an “ideal” scenario should not be considered the “only true” way. That is why the ability to realize the idea now is only a catalyst. Because if you can do at least something for the project (find content, write a piece of code, organize people), this is enough to get things going. You will be surprised how in the process of work those questions and problems that you were so afraid of at the idea stage will be resolved. Just keep busy with the project and the job will be done.

    When describing a “non-ideal” scenario, you should clearly understand that it may require serious decisions from you. When a person says that he "does not have enough funding" for implementation, this is not entirely true. Opportunities are almost always there, they just are not as ideal as we would like. After all, you can take a loan or sell a car. Yes, it is very risky, unpleasant and can even be dangerous. But sometimes this is what separates entrepreneurs from other people.

    But do not think that everything is so critical. For example, we have now launched GdeParking on a crowdfunding site in order to attract financing. Unusual experience, new conditions, some kind of their own “rules of the game”: for example, I’m not a very public person, but then I had to record a personal appeal and start an Instagram.

    Why am I saying this: yes, the ideal “ability to realize now” allows you to make a project, like a steam locomotive: directly and steadily. But this does not mean that limited opportunities at the start are something critical. No, just the path will be a little longer, non-linear and more effort will be required. And this is usually accompanied by new experiences and skills and connections, i.e. what was so lacking at the very beginning.


    3. Time

    Time can be considered in two respects. Firstly, it has to do with the project itself, or rather, how long it will take to implement it: if it’s a month or two, then there is an irresistible desire “forward and with the song”, but the year when it takes a year to be in stealth mode - what- then the feeling is completely different. Secondly, it relates to you yourself - will you have the physical ability to pay enough attention to the project to not only keep track of the current changes within the team, but also keep your nose in the wind?

    How to apply to yourself: The duration of the project, you understand, depends on many reasons. If we talk about our own time, then, as usual, it is always lacking. So, you need to sacrifice something. But in the era of the Internet, if you try at least part of the time not to spend in the social. networks, it tends to release itself unexpectedly :)



    We disassembled the basic elements and studied the catalysts. But what to do with all this, where to direct all these factors?

    To understand where to move, you must understand where you are right now. The state when you are sitting in the office and, despite the desire to start something new, don’t really change anything, is called a “comfort zone”. The salary is not the highest, but normal. The office is not the best, but quite tolerable.

    Therefore, all of the above elements should be aimed at being in the current state you are not comfortable, i.e. so that all these factors become so strong as to literally knock you out of your comfort zone. To make you feel more relaxed when doing a new business, rather than sitting on the couch. And it is precisely on this that the efforts of all the previous factors should be directed. After all, there is nothing more offensive than to regret that you have not done in life what you have been thinking about for so long.
