Slow media
It's been over six months since the publication of 3 German researchers " Manifesto slow media " ( of The for Slow Media Manifesto's ). It was translated into Russian on Chaskor , in early July, a small discussion was on Habré , A brief response was on Mediahunter (comparison of Changes with the provisions of the manifest), Someone suggested attributing it to the Russian “slow” media - Spob.ru , Chaskor.ru and Peremeny.ru . Therefore, some conclusions can be drawn, it seems to me, some awareness of this manifesto has already passed. It should also be noted that a year has passed since the publication of "Internet Manifesto "( of Internet Manifesto's ) both the manifest strive for quality and freedom of the media, and the media on the eve of the new season, I would like to go back a little to the manifest.
About 20 years ago, the BBC was “slow media” and CNN “fast.” Partially, the concept of “Slow Media” overlaps with the concept of cool media by McLuhan . In the manifesto, it seems to me that the “fast” and “slow” media are consumed via the Internet (dialogue, interface, sociality), in my opinion this is not a completely correct premise, since “slow media” can now only be traditional media (book, film, radio program, TV program (Larry King program or “What? Where? When?”, magazine)
The first paragraph of the manifesto: “Slow Media” contributes to sustainable developmentjust confirms my opinion, In the sphere of the Internet and on-line media, so far the basis is speed, and it is very difficult to position the newly created channel for the output of content as fundamental and fundamental, it will strive, voluntarily or not freely, to “speed” . Such media lack "coldness", and since the communication channel itself implies that these media are "hot", coldness can only be developed and it takes a lot of time.
I would also note that this manifesto in paragraph: “Slow Media” advocates focusing on one task, talks about that. that it is necessary to cut off information noise and garbage, that is, the task of “slow media” in the information fields is to create “treatment facilities” that will allow the consumer to receive high-quality information eliminated from information noise (advertising, jeans, etc., the
item is devoted to this : “Slow media” »Distributed through a system of recommendations, and not through advertising ), as well as from garbage thrown into the information field by various agents of influence. It is also worth noting that recently the concept of “multimedia journalism” has been spreading , in conflict with which this particular manifesto comes into play.
This manifesto still reminds me of the Dogma 1995 manifesto .in cinema, Dogma sought to get away from, say, “Hollywood”, from special effects and commercialization of art, since journalism is a craft, the media manifesto seeks to get away from special effects in information and from lowering the quality of information provided, that is, from commercialization in art. Citing the Dogma 1995 example, I wanted to show that the discussion of the “slow media manifest” is not a trend that will set development for years to come, it is rather a call for unification and a description of the criteria for creating truly high-quality content for any information transfer channels.
PS Spob.ru , Chaskor.ru and Peremeny.ru are not “slow media” in my opinion.
