Google News overtakes NY Times

Rupert Murdoch will definitely be unhappy. According to comScore statistics , in the fall of 2009 Google News was ahead of all media in the list of major news sources on the Internet.

If you look at these graphs, it becomes clear anxiety bastions of journalism. News aggregators are clearly ahead of all major media outlets in terms of attendance and, obviously, are taking their audience away.

However, according to the number of page views and the time spent on the site, aggregators still have much to develop. The same Google News is inferior to CNN in each of these indicators by about three times.

In November 2009, the global audience of Google News amounted to 100 million people, which is more than the audience of the NY Times (92 million) and CNN (66 million). Only Yahoo News (138 million) is ahead. Interestingly, we never heard from Murdoch complaints about Yahoo.

Further in the ranking of the most popular online media are Chinese QQ.com News (monthly audience of 53 million), MSN News and the British BBC (48 million each).
